Living Dark: What Have You Done?

A "LIGHTLESS" sphere.

Yet it is now an absolutely awful shade of yellow that looks like I'm stood in a ball of [ObviousToAnyoneWhoSeesIt].

Please revert this awful change.

I haven't tried this yet but I love the effect ngl. I would love it if they gave different looks effects as skill styles or settings for the same skill. For example the bound armor we have, instead of smoke it does a temp old deadric armor style as a skill style

NGL if they release a dark skill style for this and it costs crowns I will go off.

The yellowish gold color is staying in line with the Templar's color theme. The "lightless" part I guess is being expressed by your character being shaded inside.

Honestly, I can't wait for the Skill Styles for this ability now that it's more vibrant. We could get a blue color to match the other Templar Skill Styles, or maybe we could get purple or red to play into the shadow/darkness theme if we were to subclass with Nightblade.

The morph is still lightless i.e. black, plus 11 years on is a bit late to decide they had the wrong colour.

Yeah, this new urostomy bag is nowhere near as cool as it was. And why is the sound so tame now? The old version was enough to see that you are inside a dark light ball but you could still see the character, with just enough yellow to keep with the templar colour theme, and with a really powerful sound. The best part was it didn't completely cover you inside the ball.

Now it's a quiet bag of kidney-filtered water that obscures the whole character.

I guess they changed it to sell skill styles or something. We'll see if they become available in the crown store.

    Thanks for the post.

I saw someone using this for the first time today and didn't recognize what it was.

I thought this post was silly and just a lighting thing and then I used the skill myself and... wow... yeah... what??? I never had trouble seeing it before, why does it have to be bright yellow?

You need to be more specific, who is "YOU" because this needs a direction.

I--I hardly know, sir, just at present--at least I know who I was when I got up this morning, but I think I must have been changed several times since then.

During u46 pts I reported a bug with this ability when paired with Hurricane/Boundless Storm where you'd become completely invisible inside the bubble, just a floating ball. It went to launch unfixed of course.

I wonder if this visual change is a result of them trying to fix that bug? Idk I haven't tested it, but that would be my guess for the random update to an 11 year old ability.

Frankly they need to reduce the visual clutter for this game as a whole. I'm so tired of the translucent effect on our characters from Lightning Form, Living Dark, Dragon Blood, and Elude. I'm sure there's more. Crazy thought; a big part of a 3rd person action combat rpg is being able to see your character and the skills they cast.

Seems like they're is some sort of cap on character skin applied VFX anyhow because if you pair Blade Cloak with Lightning Form, depending on which is cast first, your character will inherit the silverish glow of Blade Cloak instead of the transparency from Lightning Form. The secondary effects of blades and wind swirling around you continue to operate together as expected. If you can only have 1 visual effect, why bother with transparency at all?

I'd be happy with just a setting for my character too, that's all I really care about if for some reason they think of the transparency as some sort of power budget thing for these special skills as if it gives those players some sort of advantage.

"Frankly they need to reduce the visual clutter for this game as a whole."

Hear, hear! Let us toggle off all skill styles client-side too. It's artificial clutter in seeing skills and judging how to fight.
