weird vertial "matrix code" in a forum thread

So just reading through different threads and I came across this one.

The thread at the bottom, crossing over a number of posts has weird matrix like vertical code lines running through it.

Tested on multiple browsers and they all show the same thing.

Hate to ruin the fun, but it's just "cursified" text. There's plenty of them that can be found online.

I find this to be very disruptive and hope it does not become a trend.

Also, I feel that no one should ever be able to put text over someone else's posts.

Explanation: Some languages have accents and other diacritical marks and they can be added to letters seperately. If I type "´" and "e" on my keyboard, I'll automatically get an "é". Or with "^" and "o" I'll get an "ô". Those are two normal letters in French, with accents that belong to the language's orthography. And other languages have similar things. That's the intended use.

But it's also possible to add these things to the same letter endlessly, then they'll show up on top of each other (or underneath each other, because some are supposed to be below a letter) and will form long lines. Some people use that as a graphical/stylistic element and there are even generators for that now. That's what we've seen in that thread (and in my posts here). I agree that normally, it's rather disruptive, and I don't think it should become the norm in normal discussion - but also, I don't think it will be. It's just extra work and serves no real purpose (outside the joke that was made).

i thought it was a great post and i was sad to see it shut down for not being "constructive." i thought it was far more constructive than some of the other posts i see >.>
