Auto-Save function not working properly on console?

Market Tracker v2.1.2 seems to be a consistent cause of the Save Error.

    Steps to replicate error (PS5):
    1. Restore a clean Save File from PS cloud, or delete local Save File and restart game.
    2. Accept Add-On EULA, Enable only Market Tracker v2.1.2 and all required dependencies (Market Tracker Data Loader, LibText), and nothing else.
    3. Load any character.
    4. Force-trigger Auto Save by Enter-Exit two times via any sub-Options page (Video, Audio, etc), or if force-trigger fails (false save success), wait a few seconds for the Save Error to appear.

    Solution:
    1. Disable this Add-On to avoid it, or
    2. Enable this Add-On, but upon getting the Save Error message, choose (O) No to stop attempts to Auto Save and continue playing without saves. (game is still functional, with settings fixed as per the last error-free save. Difference in that new settings will not be saved).

When Market Tracker started tripping the auto save error, even after disabling I still got the save error. I uninstalled and reverted to a cloud save, but I must have inadvertantly updated my cloud save after Market Tracker had done its damage because I was still getting the auto save error. So I uninstalled all add-ons, deleted both console and cloud saves to once again start with a clean/virgin save game state. I then installed Market Tacker alone, and it still tripped the auto save error. Again uninstalled Market Tracker, and all is right in the world.

So now, since it threw the error while there were no other add-ons for it to conflict with, it's uninstalled permanently from my system until I hear that it's safe to use it again.

    Ty for posting your observations.

@ZOS_Kevin we currently have a replicable error caused by:
    a single Add-On (Market Tracker v2.1.2), or
U46 v1.56 (PS5) Inc 2 (updates to track errors), or
    a combination of both.

Previous game & add-on versions worked fine and were not observed to trigger the auto save error.

PS/NA here, Market Tracker also causes auto save errors here, and I have uninstalled all addons to get the auto save errors to stop. And then installed the Murf's Skyshards, Murf's Lorebooks, and TSCPriceFetcher addons. And those work for me without auto save errors.

Hope those fellas on PTS give this one a rigorous workout. LOL!

    Good catch!

ZOS, why is this listed for the PC patch on PTS? PC is not having this issue with add-ons not functioning properly on PS5, so why patch the PC version of the ESO code?

Just thought I'd add a note..

I tried Market Tracker again today since the price fetcher portion had been updated, and still no joy. BUT, I did also notice that while Libs shouldn't cause the issue since they're just functins with no saved data, LibText which is a dependency also threw a "delete saved variables" option when uninstalling. So in actuality, LibText isn't an actual Library but closer to a fully functioning addon in and of itself because it sets and saves variables. And it shares the same author as the primary addon.

I am not sure yet how it will go when the Save Error pops-up after installing an add-on update. Not sure if it is just a matter of downloading the previous save-game file or if if will be necessary to delete the add-on first. I'll let you know if every get into this situation (but I hope not)

I hope this is of some help to everyone who experiences the Save Error.

I've found that when an update starts giving the error it's because it's started using a problematic Lib file. You can't go back to a previous version once it's already been updated so all I've been able to do is delete it.

After a fair bit of testing, it looks like (for me at least) it's almost always a Lib that does it. I can leave the main addon installed and disabled without a problem but get the error until I remove the Lib; just disabling it doesn't work.

The main offender for me is LibChatMessage because so much uses it. LibRecipe for the Master List does it too and a couple of others from before I started paying attention.

I'm checking update notes for addons now and making sure they don't need extra files and so far so good!

So if I get save error after update ,remove lib file that was updatet then reinstall lib file that would fix it?

That hasn't worked for me, if something causes the error it always does and I just cant use it.

The Lib files themselves aren't what was updated but addons that didn't need any can be changed to use them with an update. I had Auto Recharge and Repair, Map of Many Riches, Master List and 1 or 2 others I can't think of, all working fine until an update added dependencies.

The Lib files don't look like they've had updates at all since going live which could be the problem.

I've narrowed down the error to these two so far:
    Market Tracker- Data Loader
    Auto Repair and Recharge

I just now updated my market tracker assistant addon, it never had that data loader as a required addon before, which it now automatically installed as I updated the assistant, so it definitely is one of those as I just now started having issues after updating. After I uninstalled both and rebooted the game, the issue went away.

This initially happened to me with the Market Tracker add-on but it fixed itself once I uninstalled the problematic add-on. Then a month later it started happening again although I had not installed any add-ons lately at all. I uninstalled ALL add-ons and the problem still persists constantly. Incredibly frustrating and I am not sure what else to do to fix it.

Smetimes, once your Save file is corrupted with the bug, the only solution is to delete it or restore it from the cloud backup. But if your cloud backup is set to automatically update, then it's like as not to be a corrupted copy itself. That's why many in this thread have taken to disabling automatic backup, and manually backing up whenever we know it's safe to do so.

Comment #70 in this thread walks you through the procedure.
