How often do you Gift Crown Store Items?

I support the guilds of my friends by giving gold and stuff I earn (like crafting motif, prints,...). The same way, I support the trading guild I'm in by giving relatively big amounts of gold regularly.

Generally, the players I know prefer to get helped with their guilds than getting presents.

Never. Gifting isn't enabled on my account.

Wow…it seems like I’ve seen you posting on the forms for forever about a lot of topics! I really would have thought they would have enabled gifting for you long before now!

I have only gifted during the annual gift-thread here on the forums. I save my sub-crowns for it too, but this year I have barely subbed, so it won't be a lot.
I do however buy crowns with gold for myself. Just bought Sweetwater cascades yesterday for 1500:1 gold on pc eu.

Crown Store items are cosmetic. I prefer to give something useful, like making a crafted set, or helping with dungeon runs for dropped ones.

If they would end up giving me the option down the line, I'd likely gift fairly often. Probably once a week/ 2 weeks. On Birthdays, holidays and major life events of friends. I like gifting. Plus I'd love to be a trusted crown gifter for gold. I live for fashion in games and when I make a good fashion set, there's always the one item that's out of my reach due to lack of gold lol

I don't even buy crown store items. So I wouldn't be able to gift anything either.

That said, gifting is a feature that ZoS themselves implemented. It was their idea. And then they were the ones who introduced restrictions. And those restrictions are to a large degree, completely understandable. But the process behind enabling gifting isn't very transparent. And of course, I imagine the amount of people gifting has gone down, since well... people stopped being able to gift.

I personally still don't understand why players can't have a clear and well defined list of conditions that make an account eligible to have gifting enabled. The entire issue at the moment is that people have to play some sort of guessing game. Apply, reapply. Every forum thread about is just a bunch of speculation, most of it useless, other people playing the same guessing game of "why is this ancient account that has been part of multiple trading guilds, is active 24/7 since the literal release of the game not showing consistent activity?"

It seems that whatever criteria they use is already strict enough to not have to hide it as some additional security measure. I doubt that criminal elements with brand new accounts are going to suddenly accumulate X amounts of hours just because they read they need to, or acquire a lengthy log of guild and trading activity, or whatever else.

My baseless speculation is that regions play a role in this whole thing and are one of the reasons ZoS are not particularly transparent about this. A big, if not major, part of the reason gifting was restricted is that people would gift from poorer regions and "abuse" the exchange rates, buying crowns for cheaper and then gifting to other regions with higher prices. Of course costing ZoS a chunk of profit in the process. And I would not be surprised, if even now, ZoS look into people's regions when considering whether to enable gifting or not. Which... as long as the player is otherwise following the ToS, is kind of discriminatory. IF that happens. Which, how would we know if ZoS don't tell us.

I think I've gifted something maybe 3 or 4 times to close friends or my wife. It was a few years ago before this whole gifting lockdown. I haven't needed to gift anything in a while, and seeing other's experiences, it's not something I'm interested in pursuing.

Not all Crown Store items are cosmetic. I gifted someone a zone DLC once, gifted someone else a class, and gifted someone a limited-time house-- but I received gold in exchange for the house, so I don't consider that to be "gifting" per se.

I bought some crown items before, but its many years ago, the problem with the crown store and crates is that I have loads of stuff, for me to buy something it has be be better in some way than that I have.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.
