How to disable IA set glow

When wearing 5 pieces of a class set (as armor, not just the style pages) from the infinite archive, it makes my character glow. How do I disable this visual effect while still benefiting from the 5 piece set bonuses?

Oh how disgusting. It covers up the screen when talking to NPCs.

Ha! You think ZOS is going to give us the option to control something like that? Not on your life. It's one of the main reasons I don't bother using those sets. It looks really bad. All in the name of "class identity" which they... have now thrown out the window as of today.

Corpseburster makes my necromancer flash like a strobe light. I genuinely wonder how people with epilepsy respond to that.
    I care what you think.

If they got rid of Grim Focus "permaglow" then they should introduce an option for these as well. There's obviously a significant audience that doesn't enjoy being a flaming disco ball, since ZOS were willing to change the skill vfx.

I cannot stand slimecraw VFX hand glow. Can we have a toggle for these VFX?

Really? Corpseburster is one of a few that I actually like. The cyan flames climbing up the arms looks awesome IMHO. A bit of glow but not obnoxiously so. Screenshot below.

Soulcleaver on the other hand, is such a bright deep red with a huge glow radius, that it actually drowns out Grim Focus.

    dopyr7giz5tc.jpg

[edit] But yeah.. would be nice to be able to turn it off. I've had random comments about it when tooling about dungeons with my NB. They weren't exactly favorable, and I share their opinion.

It really does look like a strobe light that'd cause a seizure. You have to be in a darker, enclosed area so you can see the glow on the floor/walls. Like the scholarium hallways.

As for disabling IA set glow, only way is to have the set only complete on one bar and then barswap.

Huh. I've never seen any strobe effect with it. And I run Corpseburster through the darkest of dungeons all the time.

I'm on console though, so perhaps it's a graphics setting/hardware setup influencing it if you're on PC? I'm not discounting the issue in any way. Just ruminating on the cause.

I use the style pages for some of the sets to get the glow, and use some of the sets themselves, and I can't say I've ever noticed them strobing or getting in the way of dialogue. Granted, I don't play in first person, but I would think I would've noticed strobing even in third. I'm on PC if that influences it.

I'm on console, and specifically using beacon of oblivion. It glows purple fire stuff at the shoulders. After playing a bit longer I've found what's happening is when my character model disappears when speaking to NPCs, the effects from the armor do not. So if I'm standing near an NPC, sometimes the fire will take up the entire FOV because I'm standing where the dialogue camera loads. And if I'm really close to the NPC, I'll see the two flaming orbs standing right where my character's shoulders were.
Being shorter than Zerith-Var, it makes it look like his catnips are on fire when he's talking.

Dear lord, i just got pyrebrand and it's so bad, why can't i have better damage without this? It's impossible to suffer through it while doing overland quests. This needs a toggle asap, forced effects should only be defendable in pvp.

Yeah, the strobo effect was 100% there and it was highly irritating to the eyes up to a level where it became uncomfortable to constantly look at the screen.

@ZOS_Kevin could we ask the dev team to look at this as a QoL change for non-pvp zones?

I really like the visual effects from Aerie's Cry, that's the only IA class set I've tried so far.

I'm on PC, also never seen Corpseburster strobe. Not sure why some have the strobe effect and others don't. I'm on max settings so shouldn't be that.

Edit to add: by this I mean I never saw the strobe pre-patch. I know it was patched out.

Sometimes I feel like im playing a different game than everyone else lol. I thought pyrebrand was subtle and the effect was cool, never bothered me, same goes for the heavy attack effect before they lessened its visuals also.

Im on pc, play on max settings, with a 4090 and on a 4k tv.

I think people are referring to seeing the effect in 1st person. I know the Templar ones take up a large chunk of the screen borders in 1st person. It's awful, but even worse if you play in 3rd person then the environment contraints on the camera force you into 1st person for a moment.

Ohh well that makes way more sense if so. I almost never use first person unless for certain rp reasons or tanking occasionally. So in a way I was playing a different game lol.

Even though I am a tes fan, I think first person was a bit of a mistake being included in this game, its clearly not at all meant for it and was just a way to placate us tes main title fans. Nice to have options but thats the problem with having too many, you can't please everyone.

I'd agree but add, it also means they didn't need to put in dissolving walls. A bane of tanks everywhere. Good tanks learn to cope with being forced into 1st person; great tanks learn how to avoid it.

If they ever do add an option for the types of set effects, I hope it's a character specific setting. Some of the effects I like, others not so much.
