is it worth having a subclass?

before the subclass, we had 100-120k damage. now we have 150-160k. but the rotation has become more complicated. should we switch to the subclass?

It's entirely up to you. Rotations are not necessarily more complex. For example, beam builds can be exactly the same. I have subclassed 8+ characters in tank and dd roles and none have a more complex rotation than before, but of course I had to get used to the changes.

Content up to trial trifectas is extremely forgiving.

Rotations aren’t always more complicated. Sometimes less so. Absolutely worth it IMO.

I use subclassing to make my solo life more easy. Not for DPS but for survivability. For both the character and the companions that are attracted to red circles on the ground.

It's worth it when you can afford it. I'd say it's okay if you don't break the bank changing you gear/load-out in a rush to build around subclassing.

Subclassing may have boosted the average DPS, but the content difficulty hasn't increased to account for it. So there's no need to rush into it.

As for rotations, they're not more difficult. Though it may require retraining muscle memory so it's second nature just like the old rotation was.

Subclassing makes new Werewolf PvP builds possible, but in terms of PvE, Werewolf DD plays the way it always has (but with a boost to your overall damage).

I like the buffs for Werewolf Tanks, though — you can get a lot of block mitigation from passives in Winter's Embrace and Draconic Power, which sort of makes up for the lack of weapon passives in-form.

It is 100% optional, and rotations are made up by players, not set in stone for any class, so complexity of your rotation is up to what you like to play. Billions of different ways to set up a fully functional character, so just find one regardless of it being pre-created or an original that you enjoy and suits your playstyle. ^^

Are you planning on doing endgame? If so, subclassing is going to become mandatory given the likelihood of nerfs down the track.

If you're not and endgamer, you can still have quite a bit of fun subclassing a thematic build.

What they should do is make subclassing cost 1 skill point BUT you do not have access to any of the class passives, just the skills.

I’m thoroughly enjoying diving into the new subclassing system it’s bringing me an immense amount of excitement! I really, really love it and just to experiment and make my own (classes - lore, etc). Do you MUST subclass? No, not really. But, is it awesome? Yes!

As many others have stated it's entirely up to you. As with all things if YOU find value in something then it is worth it to YOU. And I think THAT is what matters. So, do what matters to YOU until the powers that be pass a law turning you into a criminal for it.

I didn't think I was going to do very much with it, but I did end up trying it on my one Nightblade character.
I've always struggled to stay as interested in the Nightblade class because some of the NB skills are not as interesting for me, but I put a lot of effort into building-up the Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood skill-lines on that character, which I don't do for my other characters, who only have Thieves Troves and Blade of Woe unlocked.
Plus, I tend to simply get attached to most of my characters, including my Nightblade, so I've kept that character, despite feeling kind of awkward and clumsy when playing her.

Subclassing gave me the opportunity to replace the skills I struggled to stay invested in, and now I feel less awkward when playing that character. So it has definitely been worth it to me.

(and I've since tried it on some of my other characters just to see what I could come up with.)

You can be good at Endgame without subclassing. The difficulty of the content didn't change. Subclassing is simply making endgame content obnoxiously easier.

which means if you intend to be in a group with other people, you are expected to perform at the top of your abilities so you don't look like a leech. Because the group can easily drop you and take someone else who is willing to play with others.

There are a lot of people who talk about endgame as if it's filled with NPCs and they can just run vDSR HM with a full group of bots who don't care about their build or efficacy. Unfortunately, in the real world, you are expected to perform similarly to others or face getting cut from the group, and there are not that great many groups doing HMs and trifectas that you can easily find one that allows pureclass builds, particularly as a support.
