I think the main reason for no nameplates was immersion. After all we don't all walk around with a huge HP Bar and nameplate above out heads do we.

I don't feel the need to identify everyone around me. I know how my buddies look like and have no real trouble to identify them, but that might also have to do with voice communication.Nameplates are btw not an optional thing to release in the future, in my opinion they are mandatory. Like one month ago.
Without them we might as well play a singleplayergame, because the other players are only shadows floating around near you. Most of the times I dont even realize the player next to me.
Because people like think you others shouldn't optionally have what you don't want.
What lag? If your PC couldn't handle it then you could turn off the OPTION!leandro.800ub17_ESO wrote: »Nameplate = lag + confusion + no vision

Well this wouldn't be the first MMO to pander to the minorities of PVP and raids and sat FU to everyone else but I'm not sure I'm buying this.daneyulebub17_ESO wrote: »The most rabid anti-name plate people seem to think it would offer an advantage to those who choose to turn them on over those who don't in PVP and raids. How does that work exactly? I've seen the argument it makes people visible when they're hiding in bushes etc used by some halfwit PVP'ers... they're forgetting that we can already whack a ruddy great health bar over their heads anyway!
As for raiding wtf? Do the NPC's get meaner due to nameplates or something? And anyway.. why does it matter that my my PVE guild is doing better in raids than theirs?

Considering other games do them and they don't look bad, I think Zeni could figure it out.
Better than abandoning the whole idea because somebody in the beta didn't pick the right font, type size or know how to properly anti-alias.
