How can we implement a quick fix for long queue times?

The root of this issue is obviously a lack of support players in relation to DPS players - there's no question that this is not an ESO-alone issue, but is present across all MMOs pretty much. I think it'd be pretty cool that if after being in queue for like 15-20 minutes for a normal dungeon (I don't want/think this would be a good idea in vets), it filled with an NPC similar to WoW follower dungeons for instance. It could just be a character from that dungeon's story that is a healer and has the same capabilities as a companion healer and the tank is auto pathing through the dungeon so you can at least hop in with real people, but not wait in queue for FOREVER. Maybe this would alleviate the fake role issue as well to a minor degree? Not sure. What do y'all think?

And to add, if a tank or healer ever did end up queueing up, they would instantly fill in an NPC slot first for instance. Could be cool! :)

Edit: Other games also have incentivization for support roles signing up (eg, gold, more XP), but with ESO not having gear checks or role checks or anything, which is why we have fake tanks and stuff all the time, this wouldn't work.

You get people complaining of the long queue times waiting for Healers or Tanks. Then you have others saying content is so easy that 4 DDs can easily clear on their own.

At the end of the day most people want to hit things. Healers and Tanks don't hurt things and thats boring to them. A well made A.I. Healer/Tank fill in would be a nice bandaid, but I'm sure people would still say the A.I. is terrible somehow.

Implementation of crossplay might help....an optional check box when queing that you dont reuire a healer or tank (random normals, base pledges) might help, but dont know how complex this would be for the system.

Oh yea they'd be terrible effectiveness-wise, but more of just a placeholder so you can at least get in the dungeons quicker

Love the optional checkbox for 3dd or 4dd groups!

Yeah, I was going to suggest that for normal dungeons, the requirement for a tank and healer could be removed. 4 DDs would be fine.

Many years ago, you could also queue in as multiple roles at the same time.

This is what should motivate players to learn new roles. Tanking is fun, but it's a lot more work.

The best way to play normals, IMO, is with parse tanks that handle all of the tank responsibilities, but can also keep themselves alive and carry the dps if they need to.

Parse tanks are also a lot of fun. Especially on trash with explosive charge, puncturing sweep and wearing rush of agony with ring of the wildheart. It is the basis of my quick, smooth runs. Plus no guilt because I'm buffing the group with olorime and replace rush of agony with powerful assault on bosses.

Here are the two builds I've had fun running:
tank/dps hybrid #1 uses olorime, master ice staff, and rush of agony/powerful assault [trash/boss]
tank/dps hybrid #2 uses olorime, turning tide and vateshran 1h&s/master's 1h&s

I enjoy the first one the most.

Subclassing makes parse tanking better than ever!

And as a bonus you get groups right away most of the time.

I’m not sure if ZOS is able to do that. I think really it’d be nice to be able to queue but also be in group finder at the same time, but not sure how they can do that either.

Either way, on PC/NA I don’t have trouble queueing as any role (for vet). Sometimes even as dps it takes 2 minutes or less.

Ya, I grinded out undaunted this past week. 47 minute queues on a healer is ridiculous. I even had a 31 minute queue with me tanking and wife healing. The game could not find 2 DPS during that time? We eventually just dropped.

In fact, we have stopped queuing together at all. It seems like dungeons take close to an hour to pop or never do. It sucks because we'd rather play together. In fact, we spend so much time separate in ESO that we are playing valheim in about 20 minutes.
