Living Armor Senche mounts Unobtainable for many players
Many of us have low income and can't spend $100s of dollars til we have 2500 gems to get Dragonclash Living Armor Senche nvm the 2 polymorphs to get the Akatosh and Alduin mounts. I used all my endeavors to get one polymorph but in my 6 years playing I have never had more than 400 gems at once so I will never be able to get the Alduin mount because I can't afford the 2500 gem mount. It makes me very sad.
It's pure cosmetic, either collect enough free endeavors, spent money or buy crowns via gold / trading from other players.
There's not much you can do and im sure nothing will change.
Obviously enough players can spent enough to make it worth for ZOS to keep things like they are.
The intention isn’t for many players to have it. These are items made to attract whales. This is how loot crates and cash shops work, and ESO is the most offensively monetized Western MMO. They’d rather see 100 whales buy crates for $100 than 1,000 normal players for $10. I’m sure there is financial evidence to support this approach, but as a customer it feels gross.
They are priced in a predatory way to take advantage of those with money to burn and little impulse control. I'd find it embarrassing to be riding around on one of those things. If you did buy them, that just encourages them to keep doing it, and to make even more predatory schemes. Then we'll see more players spending a fortune gambling for pets. It is a really really bad idea to support this stuff IMHO.
The last thing you should do on a moderate or lower income is waste money on crates in a game. Especially at the prices in ESO. When you realise how disgusting the marketing and pricing is for the top items in the crown store, they're really easy to resist. I take great pleasure in ignoring all of that junk.
I collected a zoo while I played regularly and kept up dailies for the seals. They are all "cheap" pets, which look natural and were made with attention to detail and quality. I'd rate any of them over these ugly badly-made apex things.
I suggest collecting seals of endeavor and saving them for things you *really* want.
I would never consider purchasing Crown store cosmetics under any circumstances. It's a matter of principle, not income. If more people purchased them, the game would slowly slide towards the economics of Star Citizen -- which, incidentally, showed game devs how far they could push this stuff. So I'm gonna hold the line.
Which is easy for me because I can't even imagine ever valuing something I paid for with cash in a game. Only gameplay related items have value to me.
They’d rather see 100 whales buy crates for $100 than 1,000 normal players for $10. I’m sure there is financial evidence to support this approach, but as a customer it feels gross.
A legendary game dev of the past named Pierre Molineux was a huge critic of game publishers despite being an insider who produced games for EA and Microsoft. His games helped make EA the giant they eventually became and inspired a generation of game devs.
He claimed publishers themselves understood they could sell games for half the price, virtually eliminate piracy and make almost the same profit. I think this was proven in the early days of Steam before the publishers developed their own digitial distribution platforms which increased their leverage.
Using gems for apex mounts is simply inefficens. Spend your endevors on them.
Sure, you will need to wait for the crates return but patience will reward you and give meaning to the item you finally obtained.
I don't find it embarrassing to ride the mounts. I used endeavors because I had almost 80k saved. No, I'd never spend money on such trivial things in this or any other game. Too many posts about these mounts, get them or don't. Simple.
