Scribing System Coming to Base Game

These people aren't sticking around for a month so they can begin their scribing grind, which is a lengthy one with quite a bit of RNG and time gating involved. They're just uninstalling again.
I think it's so people don't pay for it only to have it be free two days later. This is actually something I can understand and support. I got scribing when West weald dropped and I fully support it going base game but it'd be pretty scummy to leave it buyable right up until it's free don't you think?
They DO leave it buyable, they just accept the payment and don't deliver the feature.
That happened to me yesterday and I could not possibly be more upset.
Nowhere at the time of purchasing the expansion is there any indication the customer won't receive Scribing. In fact the game clearly says you'll unlock Scribing, encourages you to purchase it, and even says the purchase is required. You buy the expansion and you don't get the feature. In my mind this is not just poor service, it's criminally fraudulent.
My request for a refund was ignored.3 -

It is an objective perspective that selling something for a profit that has already been announced to become free in a short amount of time is scummy.
Both opinions can be true, though. It is scummy AND it is still available for the impatient people of the world. But, if buying it doesn't grant access anyway, then it is only scummy and technically fraud because of the product description.5 -

i'm not defending them. i'm simply saying it's not likely to get a response on a government holiday. they can have all the interest they want in my wallet. it will get them nothing. dropped my sub when they announced the season pass and it's been years since i bought a chapter.0 -

The game still indicates both that the content purchase is required for scribing and also that scribing would be available with the purchase. This is totally scummy and more than "technically' fraud.
Unless a player seeks out announcements on forums or whatever, he wouldn't know anything else about it. Even with the forum announcements, the game is still clearly selling something that it won't deliver. That's a pretty big deal to me, and it was one of the worst customer experiences I've ever had, with anything.2 -
Zoidsberg✭✭✭I'm surprised how many people are complaining about this. It seems pretty childish. I paid for it, enjoyed it, and am happy more people are now going to experience it. We should celebrate the wins when we get them. Thanks ZOS.
I paid for it, because the game told me it was required to unlock Scribing.
After I paid for it, the scribing feature is still locked.
Complaining about this isn't "childish". What's happened to me is a crime in my country.
I'd like to make it clear that I wrote that comment before you posted here, and that it was in reference to complaints that past purchases were "devalued" by Scribing becoming free. I agree that what happened to you is unfair.0 -
N1kl0Soul ShrivenYeah this is one of the biggest ZOS blunders ever. They release subclassing, but disable scribing for everyone till 6-7 weeks after patch releases (which wasn't even communicated properly, as they said it'll be a short window from june to july - in other words, during june, and implying 2 weeks at most). And it isn't said ingame or in the store, where people can spend real money on the product
We weren't even given a reason for the lockout or why it isn't immediately available on launch. Like is just copying and moving the questgiver NPCs to alliance zones not an immediate fix?4 -
DoofusMax✭✭✭It's not like this is the first time this has happened, but July's Survival Guide makes me think that perhaps a big 'ol <sarc> "Thank You!" </sarc> is in order for the two-fingered salute or Russian Eagle (five times as powerful as an American bird) being given to those of us who spent the AP, writ vouchers, or Archival Fortunes for a scribing altar. Might I humbly suggest that those of us who have an altar be offered an option of getting the currencies we spent instead of a furnishing we already have?I'm fresh out of outrage, but I could muster up some amused annoyance if required.2 -

AGREED! My friend doesn't have the newest content or last one, so doesn't have scribing. He has been eagerly, and surprisingly very patiently, waiting for it! Now, is 9 AM EST, hours after daily reset. Still no scribing, no quest in store, nada.
So, can we get an update on when today? The roadmap says we should have a new golden pursuit as well, and nada there, too.2 -

Good question, cause I only bought it for the scribing now its free and I dont even used scribing skills now that subclassing is around.
Also feels like every scribe skill is useless for pve besides the banner for Arcanist, and even that is not really that appealing no more.
