Is there a reason for the colors you get in the portals? I am aware they match the beam colors but is there a reason because it seems everyone ignore the colors and just burns the channelers

Sorry the new trial and final boss. By the time you get to the third round of portals there are three channelers to take out, each has a different colored beam going to them and each player has a red/red, a blue and a red/black blob of light (for lack of a better term) connected to them. The blobs are the same as the channelers beams but one is always brighter than the others. It seems there is a mechanic there but most of what I have seen is groups just powering through. So my question to any of the groups that have dane vet/HM vet is, is there a mech associated with these or what because it seems odd that there would not be.
