    Yeah, could be a similar things to the really, really big insects in Morrowind, who are now extincts though we can still see some shells here and there.

    I've noticed creatures used to be far larger in Tamriel's ye olde days, but being the higher beings we are, probably hunted them all long ago.

    Well, in real life we can find Tyrannosaurus Rex bones in the ground, but we can't see them in zoos for some reason...

    They are cordoned off from public view so that attempts to successfully breed are uninterrupted.

    I found three giant skulls so far in a short time so apparently they were very plentiful in their day.
