i think taking a little break from the game is healthy, I'm doing it right now and it's really refreshing, especially if you main pvp like i do XD the amount of combat delays etc you gotta step back a little and remember to relax haha

I've been on a break of sorts for a couple of months - this past one for Oblivion Remastered, I hadn't played the original since it was on 360 and never finished it, the month+ previous for Baldur's Gate 3. Plus it was getting a little stale playing ESO after playing it for years and knowing it like the back of my hand. So I'm in standby mode until June.

Breaks are a bit necessary when theres other titles to play and so little time. Because of Oblivion Remastered I'm actively playing three Elder Scrolls games at the same time. :*

But there's nothing really making me want to get back into ESO atm. I've quested everything, have to wait for Solstice, and I'm not even excited for it.

Haven't had a break since 2018. I'm pushing for 3600 cp before I'll consider a break. I should be there by Nov. or Dec. Even then I doubt I'll stop playing for any length of time. However, doing ten random dungeons a day gets old. Who knows. Cheers.

It's even better to take a break during an event with limited time rewards. Seriously. It helps put the game into perspective. Well, it did for me because when I miss these things, it feels great because I realize it just doesn't matter at all.

I've been actively playing five Elder Scrolls games for the past couple of years, and have occasionally played three others in small amounts. ESO is one of those five, and I play for multiple hours each day. But on most days I also play some Arena, Daggerfall, Morrowind, and Oblivion. On rare occasions I might crank up Skyrim to do some radiant quests or just run around, but it's been a long time since I've touched it. And I started to play Battlespire and Redguard, but didn't get very far in either.

On top of that, I have several other old game series that I've been trying to get into, such as Wizardry, Might and Magic, AD&D, and The Bard's Tale. But The Elder Scrolls' real-time action-oriented single-character CRPG playstyle holds more appeal to me than games with turn-based strategy and multi-character parties.

I love ESO, and there are days when I play only ESO, for more hours than I'm comfortable admitting to. But I need variety, and playing other games definitely helps to keep me from getting burned out on ESO. :)

I might be on a permanent "absence" - and not the kind that makes the heart grow fonder either. Haven't logged in for about a month (might be longer by now, I lose track), and I'm not missing it at all.

I'm lucky: I can from one minute to the next stop gaming without second thought. I also don't miss gaming if I have to stop for some days or more.

Generally, I do love my rl activities so much that they always win over gaming.

Beside, decades ago, after rage quitting a game out of frustration up to tears, I turned on TV to change my mind in the right moment they were informing about a terrible event that had caused more than 100 deaths. It was like a slam to my face. I felt so ashamed for my previous tears. Since then, I keep gaming and do love it, but I keep it at what it is: just a game. I try not to lose the perspective anymore.

I've taken MANY breaks from serious playing over the years I've been playing. It's important to avoid burnout, and if you're feeling burnout, take a dang break. Whether it's just not playing or only logging in for daily rewards, endeavors, writs, or whatnot, take a break.

    Sure, take a break.

Very interesting content is coming with sub-classing and many are coming back. So its fair that some players also take a break.

Yes, why not take a break. It's a healthy reaction if the game is not enjoyable anymore.

I personally alleviate boredom by varying my playtime. Some days I do the minimal, others the maximal until I drop from fatigue, most days are in-between.

Enjoyment is my primary goal, if that is not there I would not hesitate to quit.

That said I still say this game is my favorite waste of time.

I've taken breaks for the game before too OP, and it's definitely helpful in terms of either burnout or to make you miss the game and feel fresh when returning. Also, stepping back and remembering the graphics are nice outside too is definitely good hehe

I took a 6 month or year break grinding to max CP years ago, I burnt myself out. After the CP increase I was already CP1200 I think and I stopped trying to level, it can burn you and and cause you to stop enjoying the game. I mean not even trying and I am still 3400+.

But as for the OP, agreed if you are burnt out or not enjoying the game a break can be healthy. Sadly the MMO market is pretty dead to me and there isn't much that appeals to me anymore. Not much into the Eastern MMO style and Western MMO's are slackin. Everquest boys made a remix of EQ with outdated graphics and the old recipe which only a very small portion of people have any interest in that hardcore style anymore.

Once subclassing is live, I'll be on a more or less permanent break from any serious content. just logging in to be social. I don't like hybridization and subclassing is doubling down on that. At this point ZOS just needs to get rid of classes and stam/mag. So, after years of playing, I'm done.

I recently unsubbed and uninstalled due to the awful quest "content" we're getting... I tested Solstice on PTS and it pretty much killed my motivation to play the game. I play ESO first and foremost for the questing experience, which has gotten worse and worse since 2020, and this was the final nail for me. I'll be on an extended break incase ZOS actually manages to make something worthwhile for 2026...

I'm having my break in WoW where I can actually play solo without being a dps god. :)

I'll see your bet and raise you one: the game needs to take a break, the code properly fixed and maintained, so it seems more like a functional system instead of a rickety mess held together with hopes and dreams. We'll work on the "brilliant additional content" ideas another day.
