What base class + optional subclass skill lines would be ideal for a PvE vet dungeon/trial healer? I already have a templar healer but want one more healer with a different setup that can do group dungeons.
Personally I'm leaning towards Arcanist with Warden Green balance for minor toughness. Reason for maining it on Arc allows me to use two armoury slots to have
Arc - Arc - Warden for groups that prefer high uptime of minor vuln & brittle.
and
Arc - templar - warden for groups that want better resources.

NB (siphoning), warden (Green balance), sorc (summoning) is one I'll be using. For dungeons you have some damage abilities that heal and atro for some damage and a nice synergy. Gives you an emergency heal and nice hots, If you want to lean more into heals you can with matriarch bird for another emergency heal that will hit most of the group.
There is no "best" healer class or skill line (but a lot of "no-brains-just-follow-meta" gamers ) here.
Being a healer, your main tasks (except to heal others) are buff/debuff and refill resources, so you must have 2 skills for heal: direct_big (you can get aoe shild/heal from scribing) + hot (to trigger a shield from cp on low-hp or trigger a buff like Spell Power Cure) and cc/debuff skill from any skill line (Shattering Spines, Bone Totem, Mass Hysteria, etc.).
And refilling resources doesn't depends on class at all (Necrotic Orb, Symphony of Blades, Chimera's Rebuke, Lamia's Song).
What to choise exactly depends on tank skills (it has similar tasks) and of course requirement of a "group buffs" if your party/raid is underequipped (not all members have Oakensoul Ring)
If you follow the meta, you will see Warden/Necro/NB, Templar/Warden/Necro, or any combination of those classes. I started healing with my DK about a month ago, subclassed just with templar restoring light and have done extremely well in vet dungeons and even normal trials, content I couldn't do before as a tank or dps. It isn't meta, but I'm very familiar with the class abilities, it feels solid, and most importantly - its FUN.
I switched to a templar/warden/necro build not too long ago to see how different it was, and yes, it was a huge difference. I was able to complete my first Vet Trial, but partly because my templar was helped immensely by the guild and I got geared up with trial sets quickly. Where my DK has gotten a group through no death runs in vet dungeons by providing good healing output and strong damage shields for the group, the T/W/N multiclass build provides stronger raw healing output and sustain.
Bottom line, pick a class you are familiar with and start there. Get into some vet dungeons, collect some sets, then try a trial or two. Once you have a few sets, you can then try them on different classes and then decide which works best for you. Some sets synergize well with different classes and other sets. I think that's where "best in slot" seems to be, the gear/class combination and not simply the class.
I still enjoy my DK and is my go to healer for vet dungeons, but the Templar/Warden/Necro is growing on me fast.
