Major Protection or another HoT?

I've been getting back into Cyrodiil PvP and trying to learn how to not get one-shot left and right, but I've come to a crossroad with my build where I have to choose between slotting a Revealing Flare morph just for Major Protection or a Regeneration morph for another layer of HoT. I'm not sure which is ultimately more beneficial or if they're pretty much equally beneficial just for different scenarios. What are your experiences/opinions?

Here's my basic build, for context (magblade, healer focus, sometimes solo, sometimes grouped, but this is what I'd run while solo):
  • Front bar > DW, Spell Power Cure
    • Shadowy Disguise, Sap Essence, Concealed Weapon, Impale, Mass Hysteria (or Merciless Resolve)
  • Back bar > Resto, Robes of Transmutation
    • Race Against Time, Resolving Vigor, Funnel Health, Healthy Offering, Blinding Flare (or Radiating Regeneration)
  • Mythic: Markyn
Fedrals: PC / NA / EP / NB

From doing a lot of PTS duels, stacking passive healing seems like the way to go in this meta, so take the HoT. If it's for your Resto then yea Regen hands down no contest.

If you really wanna test it mathematically, run CMX across a bunch of fights with the HoT. If the HoT is healing for 10% of your total damage taken or more, its about equivalent (or better).

However, if you find youre getting burst down, even if the HoT is healing for more than 10% of the damage youre taking, it might still be useful to drop it for Major Protection.

So much goes into this. Range vs melee vs ganker play style. CP allotment for damage or resistance. What you are actually doing in Cyrodiil, i.e. healing/support or damage. Its tough to pinpoint something that would instantly fix getting ganked.

Try Mighty Chudan 2 piece to get Major Resolve at all times. I prefer the Major Protection morph on the Flare. Since you are running as a healer, seems that you could stack heals by adding a scribed skill (Healing Soul, Healing Contingency) or Vigor with one or two of your other heals and get Major Protection at the same time.

Radiating Regeneration will likely provide more benefit to you or your group in most situations. However, you should also consider your resource management and sustain. If you're already struggling with Magicka sustain, adding Radiating Regeneration might make things worse. In that case, I'd recommend using Blinding Flare, which essentially has no resource cost.

I noticed they didn't mention any monster set and still have several slots left over. The light armor might be rough for someone that isn't used to it but they could try swapping some more gear to the body and run Maelstrom's resto staff. Or even skip that and go Grundwolf or Roksa for the monster set in heavy. Heavy armor already gives pretty good sustain when under pressure and strategic use of a resto heavy attack can top you off just about any time.
