I've been told that the Furnishing limits are set to permit ESO houses to run without crashing on last-generation game consoles (circa 2013?). I'd love to know what the Furnishing limit might be for a min-spec PC on the PC servers. Or for current-generation consoles. I'd also love to know if some ESO elf has determined the Furnishing limit on a super-whammer-jammer computer on the PC servers. A limit of 1500 would be great; but I'd crack a smile for 1000.12 -

Well. I can tell you this much.
In 2015, on my old PC, what would now be a "potato" I played a voxel game where the voxels were about 30cm or 12" (Technically the "voxels" are the 8 corners of a cube, but I'll use voxel to describe a cube for this conversatrion).
The game allowed for the voxels to be moved around, so you could make perfect spheres with about 11 voxels minimum. You could make any shape you really wanted to make, not much different than a 3D program. This game did not look like minecraft. Not the world, not the player creations. We could smooth voxels and do all kinds of tricks.
I had builds that were over 1.5 million voxels in size (computationally resource heavy) and I had over 1500 "props" which would work exactly like ESO furnishing items.
With that size a build, with 15 people around, lights everywhere, moving props and effects I got a solid 60 FPS on that old potato PC.
I find it hard to believe that the technical limitations we are told are....not exaggerated. I could build more, easily doubling what we have in this game with 1.5 million voxels around me, different shapes, colors, you name it with that many players in the vicinity and still maintain a solid 60 FPS on that old potato PC 10 years ago.

I know that a couple days ago, I was doing the alikr desert dolmen loop with a 14900K and 7900xtx and even with 100ish players the computer didn't blink and was capped at 100fps 4k resolution.
Yet OTH, ppl say that it lags out in Cyrodil when there are more than 10 ppl on screen.
I have a feeling that with a current gaming pc, the limit could be thousands of items and not be a problem.

I emptied my old house which had 200 limit, and the new house is already over 400. WIthout ESO+ you have to go through and essentially destroy the house's looks by removing the detail items from every planter box, and then you are still capped at 350. This house is designed to push eso+.
I previously owned a Medium House, so I don't know if its standard for a Manor sized home to ship with 150 spaces of junk. I suspect not.5 -

An increase in furnishing limit should be tied only to ESO+ to give the sub even more value.
The new FREE home is awesome though, great gesture that I welcome much much more of.2 -

I'm previewing the The Orbservatory Prior, also a Notable House which costs 12,000 Crowns and much prefer our Grand Gallery of Tamriel. It's huge but very easy to navigate and having three floors and a sun-roof feels extremely luxurious. I will make this a guild house.10 -

I dare say there are more older PC machines out there than old gen consoles. Everybody likes to blame it on console support, but I know a fair number of ESO players who still play on machines older than Xbox One and PS4.

There's no magic. The ESO+ limit is representative of the hard limit and the non-sub limit is not. At no point was it ever said the lower limit was for performance reasons.
Of course ZOS would increase the limit if they could easily do so!

✭✭✭✭Remember when ESO was DX9 and then they ditched it and went to DX11, it is about time ZOS stopped supporting the old generation of console as well, I do not see why they should be holding PC players back or why ZOS is trying to keep it the same on both systems when each system has their own advantages that the other lacks.
Just increase the furniture cap on the PC version, many of these giant player homes need more than 700 slots.
Increase it to 1000 for notable homes.2 -

My feeling is the issue is and has always been the engine. They use the consoles as a scapegoat because they feel it is the easy way out. LOD has always been a thing. Like you I have a stronger PC that can run this game at 4K@100+ at max settings. The issue is even with that powerful of a PC I notice certain items have display issues. I have 4 of the celestial clouds for instance. If I set all 4 out, 90% of the time only 2 or 3 will render. This holds true even if I put this game at a lower resolution and almost minimal settings. I know a lot of people ask to discontinue support of older consoles, but I really don't think this would help. I feel the best solution is maybe allowing the redistribution of furnishing slots. Like I don't use 55/110 collectible slots. Maybe allow us to use traditional instead for those slots. Or maybe substitute 10 collectible slots so I can get one more mount/houseguest/pet in my house. But even an idea like that may find a limitation due to the engine.2 -

✭✭✭✭I game on eso with a 7800x3d and a 4080super and still have performance issues. While hardware maybe a limitation, the biggest limitation by far is isp and eso server connection based.
A lot of people just don't have access to super high speed internet connections that are stable...1 -

Hit it hard because I'm not playing much atm, but if I was playing regularly, I would have gotten a stack just playing normally. And if this suggestion ever appeared, that would kill Pursuits for me. I love the more flexible run to the end of a pursuit. I thankfully do not suffer from FOMO, but I've seen the effect it has on a lot of my friends over the years. If many folks I knew/know felt compelled to play it to the end every time, they'd burn out and quit very quickly. Keep it the way it is. Flexible, lots of options.1 -
ImmortalCX✭✭✭✭✭It was a good event. The first one I felt motivated to complete.
It comes at a time when there is great uncertainty surrounding the upcoming update.
I can say that the house rekindled my interest in the game. Now that I have a larger house with more potential, I am out farming specific items and looking into crafting or procuring upgrades.
I had forgotten about buying larger houses becaues 4mil gold as a casual take a long time and better spent on DLC, but having this free house has made me interested in the housing/furnishing system.
If they wanted to really get clever, they would lower the price of the houses, and make the furnishing capacity a function of ESO+ and a new kind of housing upgrade. Make an "architect's shrine" which costs an ungoly amount of writs, but that increases a houses capacity by 50 spaces. A house can have between 1 and 4 of these depending on the size of house. Then you could add another 1 to 4 with crown purchases. (Something similar to the housing chests)
And if the Architect Shrine is a problem on console, then don't sell them on console.

The limitations are for ESO+ and without you get half. You looked at it backwards. That aside I'm thinking if ZoS could increase the limits they would. The players into housing that I know spend a lot of money for their homes. If they had more slots available to them they would most likely spend more. ZoS has got to know this yet still haven't increased the limit. So we can probably safely assume a technical issue is preventing the increase.and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."3 -
