Starting two events at the same time?

I probably would have done the thief event if nothing else was going on. With the Golden Pursuit for a big fat juicy house happening, there is no way I’m putting any time into the thief event if it means I can get the house a couple of days earlier.

[snip] I believe that is probably a small faction to those of us who only engage in such unsavory activities when induced by the game.

Really bizarre planning. Golden pursuits could easily have been shortened a few days to give the outlaw event our undivided attention for the few days it lasts.

Overlapping events suck. I'd probably have goofed around with with the Crime Wave event - I have multiple toons with maxed thieving - if they didn't have a massive Golden Pursuit with over 2 dozen required objectives with a free notable home as the reward at the exact same time.

I have limited time and bandwidth for video games. I'll be passing on the Crime Wave event entirely, which is a shame. Poor planning.

It's just a video game. I find it fun to roleplay a savage monster who kills people and devours them — to me, that was the main draw of Skyrim with its werewolf and vampire gameplay. Plus the Justice System overall is a fun gameplay system as far as mechanics are concerned, where sneaking around and pickpocketing/assassinating make the game feel more like a stealth game.

And, like Ember says, stealing doesn't have to be a moral thing. Maybe our characters are thieves out of necessity to survive. This is a role playing game, and we're not sociopaths for pretending to be criminals in a video game. Sometimes our characters aren't evil when they do criminal actions.

My understanding is there is some nuance to the thief event regarding the reward and the amount of your bounty but I’ve seen nothing from ZOS explaining the event until this a.m. and that was just vague “ get more rewards”.

For something they thought was important enough for PTS testing, they sure have put minimum effort in launching it. I don’t understand it.

I agree on principle, but I will probably only spend a limited amount of time on the thieving event. I can only pickpocket for a short time before getting bored, and as someone pointed out there are 25 different things that have to be done to get the house. I have to find a way to avoid the awful ToT ones because I’m sure they only count when playing another player and I’m done with doing that.

You have 4 weeks to do the golden pursuit. If you can't find the time to do those (frankly quite easy, see the other thread on it) things, you wouldn't have gotten much from the crime event anyways.

I'll be skipping the Crime Pays "event" - I don't have a problem relieving thieves troves of their goods, but I don't go around killing NPCs for the heck of it. Pickpocketing can be fun for a couple of minutes, but it gets tiring and it's not my preferred gameplay.

The house event comes at a time when my work is at some of its busiest, so I'm not sure how much time I'll be able to devote to my accounts and getting the end reward. To be honest, I'm not the best pleased at some of the choices - do X dungeon 3 times seems not only a bit much but boring as all get-out. Of the given list, on my new account(s), I honestly don't see being able to complete 25. :: shrugs :: might be wrong.

Oh well. What do I know. I've only been around since beta testing, not like the new players coming in and spending all the money on the new shinies.

The Crime Wave event lasts for a few days.

The Golden Pursuits campaign lasts for the whole month.

And to add yet another couple of thingies, the Daily Endeavors campaign lasts for a day.

The Weekly Endeavors campaign lasts for a week.

As far as I know, no one complains about those two thingies running concurrently.

And those two thingies are going on at the same time as the other two thingies.

Whenever there are two or more campaigns running concurrently— which, if you consider the endeavors (and all of the many daily quests in the game), is pretty much all of the time— it seems easy to me to prioritize what to work on first based on their deadlines and my personal preferences.

Another post said the thieving rewards have a very low drop rate. I happened to get one of those pouches today and it had the usual “treasures” that you find in safeboxes and while pickpocketing. Makes me glad I won’t have time for it if you just get the ordinary inventory fodder.

You can ignore the whole Golden Pursuit until the crime wave ends, and still have lots of time to finish the Golden Pursuit. Bit much when two things start at once, but not a big deal. It's also a battlegrounds weekend, too.

    1000% agree.

    Anyway...
Dunno why everyone crazy about MINI-events.
You have GP for whole (without 2 days) month and Crime Wave for few days. Then ppl can scream about 100%XP boost minievent what will be and BG weeks.
And btw pouches and iirc guaranteed from dailies and have super low drop chance from thieve activities (at least for me and wife) so at least you have 25%+ for fence.

Btw, I'll understand if you can't play the rest of the month, but otherwise I don't see what the problem is.
