Scribing System Coming to Base Game

Hi everyone! We wanted to share some information about an upcoming change to how players can obtain the Scribing system.

Scribing is coming to the base game, free for all players as a claim in the Crown Store, in mid-July with an associated Golden Pursuit! You will see Scribing in the Crown Store on the PTS on Monday as part of this testing.
We are not selling Scribing in the Crown Store.
If you miss the associated Golden Pursuit, you will still be able to claim Scribing from the Crown Store, as this is a permanent move for it to the base game.
There will be a short window from June to July with the launch of Update 46 and the Gold Road zone moving to ESO Plus and the Crown Store where players who do not currently own Scribing will not be able to purchase/gain access to it.

Please give the Werewolf skill line its first Scribing skill! It's the only playstyle which cannot use any of the other available Grimoires!

People who paid for IC, Wrothgar, Morrowind, and any other content that has been given away for free have not been compensated. This will be no different. I don't think this is a bad thing btw. You are paying for early access.

Literally only bought the lacklustre chapter for Scribing. Would’ve understood if it was coming to ESO+ (which has already drastically lost value over the years) but to give it away for free is ridiculous

Those chapters were added to the base game years after their release. Scribing only came out a year ago

My earlier comment aside, I'm glad Scribing is being made a base game feature, alongside Subclassing. Those two systems together are going to be really useful for all players to truly play the way they want, with incredible control over the spells/skills they can use.

We bought it a year before its being added to base game so not much to complain about.

If it was 6 months ago or less with the full prize of Gold Road we should complain.

Cool! Though I don't really understand putting it in a golden pursuit, when people either already own it or will just be able to claim it from the crown store a little later. Unless I'm misunderstanding this?

No, nothing is planned at this time. However, the Scribing Golden Pursuit is rewarding AND equally available to both those who have already invested time into Scribing, and first-time Scribers. In fact, those who have used Scribing over the last year may find some tasks faster and easier to complete.

Ahhhh ok, so like the pursuit requires people to use scribing, scribing isn't the reward? That would make more sense then :P

This is a great change! I welcome changes where more features are incorporated into the base game free for all players to enjoy. No reason we need to keep what should be core gameplay features tucked away behind an expansion paywall!

I was a bit confused by this at first, myself. Hopefully more players will pick up Scribing and participate when the system goes free in July!

Having seen the shenanigans (and developed a few of my own) that scribing can get up to, it'll be fun, funny and frustrating to see it expanded, all good things, imo.

Jewel Crafting should also be part of the base game. I paid full money for Gold Road because of Scribing as it main feature and now you are giving it for free after a short time (a bit more than a year) instead of Jewel Crafting which it is much older and useful content (since 2018).

In July, Scribing will be added to Base Game. So as long as you own the Base Game, that is all you will need to use the system going forward.

Agreed. It is baffling that Summerset and Orsinium are not base game yet, yet Vvardenfell is.

I started playing ESO when Vvardenfell was new, so while I understand that Summerset, Orsinium, Hew's Bane and Gold Coast were listed as different 'types of content.' IE chapters vs DLC vs <I have no idea>, it makes no real sense to me. It's time for those artificial differences to be ended, and to add Summerset, Orsinium, Hew's Bane (Thieves Guild) and Gold Coast (Dark Brotherhood) to the base game.

Scribing coming to the basegame is an odd choice considering it hasn't even been out for a year yet. I would've expected Jewelry crafting or Warden to have been made free first. Scribing was the only reason to buy Gold Road

It wasn't the reason at all for me to buy Gold Road. I love the questline (and have played it over and over on many alts) but have zero use for scribing itself (the same way I never had any use for spellcrafting....)

after sub-classing becomes a reality werewolves will become even less meta because they are a "pure class" locked into 5 actives. also, every class will have easy access to poison now which is a counter to WW. kindly make suitable adjustments.

Why hasn't jewelry crafting been made base game yet? Summerset was released quite a while ago and it's still not mainstream.

This is very much appreciated. Scribing combined with subclassing, and addons for console makes this an exciting time for ESO.
