Well, my new rig has the specs to run it at max. But I don't have the data to download it. Got to talk to daughter. Might not want to play it until someone does "OCO2" for Remastered....

I'm not. Even if I got the money, I'm done with these practices by these company.

I won't be getting it anytime soon; maybe several months from now, but there's no telling. Not that I'm uninterested in it; on the contrary, I'm actively playing the original game, along with Morrowind, Daggerfall (not Daggerfall Unity), and Arena. I've always had a great fondness for it, as it was my first Elder Scrolls game. I might be the only person who thinks the original game looked beautiful-- especially with the graphics settings cranked up to their highest settings-- but I can understand why Bethesda thought it was a good idea to remaster it and rerelease it for new generations to discover.

I thought the original game was beautiful too, btw (edit: oops, that was SeaGtGruff's comment. Need coffee).

why keep leveled item quest rewards and why keep enemy scaling tied to level? I hope elder scrolls 6 doesn't do this. I think a better approach is to up the damage of everyone and everything and de-level quest rewards make sure such quest rewards are not so apparent overpowered that they break the gane. Have some tough enemies here and there. Have certain new enemy types spawn past certain levels and past certain quest completion. Why have a leveling system at all if it just punishes you?

Agree, spend a lots of time in it. Wonder how true it is to the original? Loved many of the weird stuff in it.
I obviously assume level scaling is more like Skyrim and FO 4, it exist but is much more local and restricted. Now it need Oblvion's spellcrafting.
    And hope dialogue has improved.

Wes Johnson said they just reused all of the current voice acting. I also hear that they layered the UE5 engine over the original engine so it should be mostly the same game with improvements in areas like archery from what I read. I hope level scaling was addressed because that was the worst part of the original (but awesome) game. Game size is 120GB on disc and I’m installing it as soon as I get home tonight.
That is a bit disappointing as the Oblivion dialogue was jumping between multiple voice actors talking to an npc, from an old poor lady to someone much younger because of dialogue choice. AI would probably do wonder here filling out minor npc dialogue like the one you had in Morrowind, you talk to an guar herder and he talks for 10 minutes how awesome guars are while you tries to focus him on the murdered lady he found.

In the livestream they said they expanded on the voices that are there, so now each race has a unique voice. So while some of the voices are the originals (like Johnson's Sheo), there is new voice stuff. I'm glad they left most of the original stuff because part of Oblivion's charm is the voice acting, IMO.

Also they said the level scaling is a combination of Oblivion's and Skyrim's, so I'm curious to check it out.

The visuals looked like a huge improvement.

I instantly bought the game but won't be playing it right away. Looking forward to getting into it soon.

And yeah, saw that some ESO lore has been included, at least when selecting an origin for the character. Funnily enough, I recognize all the origin regions from playing ESO, not from having played the SP games.

Unfortunately the new voices are only for NPCs, so if you play an elf you still either sound like the Adoring Fan or an older lady. But it's certainly nice that they don't all sound the same anymore, some use the old voices, some use new ones, you can hear a few of the Skyrim actors there. Speaking of, I MUST find out if the "hang on, let me do that one again" line is still in there, it would be hilarious if they kept it.

They definitely did a good job with many of the new visual assets and lighting, I love what they did with Ayleid ruins for example, they look less bleak and more magical while still feeling like long abandoned places.
Unfortunately the game balance is a bit strange, on adept enemies barely scratch me, on expert, which is only one difficulty up, i get shot twice and die. I expect many patches

(edited out a term that was not so nice)

I will still play Skyblivion when released, in fact looking forward to that. Also better chance to tinker with it.

I can find my way around xEdit, the CK, nifskope etc however UE5 is not something I've ever touched and I don't 'pick up things' as readily as I used to either.

That limits quite a bit what I can realistically do.

However they released the remaster on Game Pass so it would be rude not to

Liking it so far. I've not played this game in over a decade. Looks like the remaster is exactly what I needed to jump back in. Gameplay still feels familiar. Movement is perhaps a bit less fluid than you'd expect from a modern game, but it's ok. Environments are of course amazingly detailed, especially compared to the unmodded original.
Please stop making requests for game features. ZOS have enough bad ideas as it is!

I wish ESO looked this good..if only we could gate a full remaster instead of the barley noticiable graphic upgrades we're getting. :/

Be careful what you wish for... the graphics are... intensive.

If they did something like this with ESO they'd be writing off a good chunk of the player base.

And is not like most people can quickly get an upgrade...

With things as they are with GPUs at the moment, good luck purchasing one without getting a 2nd mortgage.

Personally I love ESO's graphics, I think the art department did a fantastic job for something that is ten years old. Also they have only got better over time. As you indicated, how many folk can just go out and get a brand new setup. As a pensioner with the world in a rather dodgy situation and financial emergencies always cropping up, forking out well over 1,000 quid is a big ask.

Nice, one very jarring thing in the old game was the low number of voice actors and the reuse of lines from other actors.
Definitely an game I gone pick up.

Even though I understand English, the fact that there's no French version of the game (audio) is honestly a scandal, and the French community isn't happy, I want to say.
It's an RPG, and audio is very important.

I do very much feel for you, as I am aware how protective (and proud) French people are over their language, and rightfully so. It does seem strange therefor, that a lot of the development was made in France, if I am correct. This is not a criticism by any stretch, but just an observation. In friendship and respect, and I still have my French Rugby shirt.

Now one hilarious effect in Oblivion is that if you had decent stealth you could snipe some with an bow from long range and hide behind cover before the arrow landed. The npc then assumed nearest neutral animal like an mudcrab shot them and attack them.

This led to an hilarious scene doing the Orrery quest, I sniped the guy holding the quest item, then hide and he assumed it was an deer and started chasing him, and I had to get him or else the quest item might be lost.
So it became an long chase, i tried to use magic on the enemy and the deer but it was to far, think I chased for 10 minutes before they run close to an oblivion portal and got attacked by daedra who got him to stop.

Oh don't read me wrong, I was not being facetious about Tales of Tribute, I genuinely do enjoy that they took the time to add that into the game. The more casual gameplay features the better. I kept crying to blizzard for YEARS to add a Hearthstone lite version to WoW that we could play with other players but nope...just more Mythic+ dungeon affixes.

Hopefully this whole season pass thing is the devs trying to take more risks into gameplay features that bring players together like the event.

Drat. And only recently I finally got around to picking up the Skyrim remaster (sale was too good to pass up), and I've yet to crack it open. Between that and purchasing the ESO 2025 content pack, I think I may give this one a bit of time to age a bit, and go on sale as well. I mean, it has been 18 or so years since I last played Oblivion, so another probably won't be so bad.

It does look really good though. And watching a review about it, I do like some of the mechanic changes they made. (especially with the Bow)

One thing who would make me go crazy is to have to switch spells before using them after so many years in ESO.
Now it makes sense for guns or other weapons, but not for spells or abilities.

Also modding is important for the game to last long I think.
