It takes place in The Elder Scrolls universe.

There are references to TESO that have been included in the game.

    ...

Oh wait, that wasn't a good faith question was it? sorry, my bad.

Agree, spend a lots of time in it. Wonder how true it is to the original? Loved many of the weird stuff in it.
I obviously assume level scaling is more like Skyrim and FO 4, it exist but is much more local and restricted. Now it need Oblvion's spellcrafting.
    And hope dialogue has improved.

Wes Johnson said they just reused all of the current voice acting. I also hear that they layered the UE5 engine over the original engine so it should be mostly the same game with improvements in areas like archery from what I read. I hope level scaling was addressed because that was the worst part of the original (but awesome) game. Game size is 120GB on disc and I’m installing it as soon as I get home tonight.
That is a bit disappointing as the Oblivion dialogue was jumping between multiple voice actors talking to an npc, from an old poor lady to someone much younger because of dialogue choice. AI would probably do wonder here filling out minor npc dialogue like the one you had in Morrowind, you talk to an guar herder and he talks for 10 minutes how awesome guars are while you tries to focus him on the murdered lady he found.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

I wish ESO looked this good..if only we could gate a full remaster instead of the barley noticiable graphic upgrades we're getting. :/

Be careful what you wish for... the graphics are... intensive.

If they did something like this with ESO they'd be writing off a good chunk of the player base.

And is not like most people can quickly get an upgrade...

With things as they are with GPUs at the moment, good luck purchasing one without getting a 2nd mortgage.

I spent a ton of time playing Oblivion 20 years ago. And I remember trying to play it again after playing Skyrim and the jump in gameplay and graphics made it incredibly difficult to go back.

Fired up the remaster to do the tutorial bits at lunch and it looks and feels great. Can't wait to sink another 100 hours into the game.

In the livestream they said they expanded on the voices that are there, so now each race has a unique voice. So while some of the voices are the originals (like Johnson's Sheo), there is new voice stuff. I'm glad they left most of the original stuff because part of Oblivion's charm is the voice acting, IMO.

Also they said the level scaling is a combination of Oblivion's and Skyrim's, so I'm curious to check it out.

The visuals looked like a huge improvement.

I instantly bought the game but won't be playing it right away. Looking forward to getting into it soon.

And yeah, saw that some ESO lore has been included, at least when selecting an origin for the character. Funnily enough, I recognize all the origin regions from playing ESO, not from having played the SP games.

Yeah, I don't think it's the graphics that have turned people away from ESO over the years. It's (1) the monetization approach. Monetization is necessary, but some forms feel much worse than others. People don't like playing a game that makes them feel bad, kind of defeats the purpose. And (2), the combat team. Initial combat design of ESO hit upon something very interesting, but the changes and swings back and forth... this team is just throwing darts blindfolded. Thank goodness this game is based on Elder Scrolls, or no one would have put up with all this over the years.

Spent tens of thousands hours in the old days on the original, wonder if the remaster would be able to squeeze at least a hundred on top. If subclassing goes live it probably will, lol.

I puttered around in Oblivion when it first came out, but never did much of anything in the game actually. But one of my current characters in ESO is a remake of the character I tried that game with, with the backstory that later on ended up accidentally getting sent back through time to the time of ESO. Now I can finally make that character again in Oblivion Remastered and play through his former life in the future. 😊

    Same here.

I think I will hang on for Skyblivion, it will be free and it is worth supporting the team. That being said, my seven year old PC will struggle a bit with the remastered one, maybe when I upgrade, but my present PC is still good enough for what I want to do.

Personally I like ESO's graphics, I find them much more pleasing than Skyrim's. Aggressive monetization is a turn off as are some of ESO's development decisions.

This stupid remaster just pushed me into dropping $110 on a CPU upgrade... My GPU however will have to learn to live with rendering Unreal Engine 5 graphics while on fire.

It should also be of note the game requires 125GB of space on an SSD.

I'm personally still in the "The only SSD I have is for my Operating System" camp. However I can still play it on Xbox using a $20 Gamepass Ultimate sub, so at least i can "try' it that way.

I'm now counting the gigabytes until I can see what an Oblivion Remastered female Khajiit looks like.

Even though I understand English, the fact that there's no French version of the game (audio) is honestly a scandal, and the French community isn't happy, I want to say.
It's an RPG, and audio is very important.

The good news is its just like Oblivion. The bad news is its just like Oblivion. The graphics are gorgeous but mechanics don't seem to have been updated; can't zoom in with a bow for example.

Personally I was really hoping for some face presets and different voices for the player character, but sadly no.
