Nope, sadly not.

Not only did they not touch templar jabs, but now light and heavy attacks for duel wield and two-handed weapons got the flurry treatment and look even dumber.

There is no sad emote or emoji sufficient enough to express my sadness over this.

My honest condolences. I do not play a templar. But the nighthollow staff sure was the worst pick for a new look I could have possibly imagined.

I don't know if we ever found out whether Nighthollow was just the style-du-jour for spears that update (it was also used for Devyric's lightning conduit, which could have simply borrowed the style-less model of Vrol's) or it was an intentional irony to use a vampiric motif for Aedric and Druidic abilities.

Either way, they know how well the decision sat with many players, given the feedback all over the forums. Appeals to nostalgia can work well when the content for which we're nostalgic is made accessible - otherwise it's called nostalgia for a reason.

RIP Templar. I saw the demo video and was super looking forward to resurrecting my old Templar main. Guess I'm sticking with nightblade. The shovel animation is disgusting, it burns my eyes to look at.

After the Aetheric Lancer set came out, which featured yet another instance of the better, older spear model, I made a post in the PTS section about how it's clear that they're sticking with the ugly Nighthollow style out of sheer spite, and my post title got modded for "bashing". The longer it's gone without so much as a mention from the dev team, the more I'm convinced that's the case. They wanted to change the animation, and someone with pull decided to make the new model their own personal favorite staff style. Forget any sort of visual or thematic consistency whatsoever.

Yeah the whole “bashing” thing is maddening. “Bashing” seems to be a catch all infraction to remove or edit posts that they don’t like but violate no rules. One would think with skill customization we could get the old animation and skill model since they’ve illustrated that they can swap out models and animations via the “Customizable action’ stuff that they sell to us in crates and pre-order bonuses. At this point it all just looks like spite.
