Dear CS the last few days the amount of filth and abuse on chat is getting worse and worse. More and more you see abuse to german players (*** talk, mein kampftalk etc) , people going mental on chat in caps and talking about *** mothers and things like this and yesterday was the absolute lowpoint. I did the quest with the gay werewolf and someone else also talked or asked something about this and the amount of homofobia and verbal abuse to homosexuality was sickening. I loved this quest the simple fact zenimax made quest like these show howmuch they care for this game and made a liberal game with alot of love and attention for everyone. I really want to thank zenimax for these kind of great quests but the amount of verbal abuse on chat is getting out of hand fast. Thanks

It's what happens when people can't play on servers focused on 'their' language and those unable to understand it get frustrated with chat being useless since conversations in multiple languages all at the same time just don't work.

I am totally NOT condoning what's happening but can understand the frustration at times.

TBH I have no idea why ZOS didn't set up separate languages for all channels in lieu of the language-based servers of other games.

Interestingly I rarely see French in /Zone but know the French Zone is pretty active from time to time.

Ever heard of the vocal minority...
Unfortunately its the same with most MMO's, the 0.5% of the player population who say the most have the least to say.

    ^^ This.

And you always find a troll that got bored of the game and wants to vent his anger in zone for days.

The absence of visible mods is reducing the game - absolutely no question about it. Generally I have to say that my chat experiences have been pretty positive, but of course zone chat is a mess, and sometimes it gets ugly. Players know that Zeni have "more important things to do" and probably aren't bothered with what happens on chat.

Most other games give you a dozen different chat channels - trade, RP, general, local, Faction, Guild... With ESO it all kinda gets mushed into Zone. 90% of it is people spamming stuff to sell anyway., so the medium has become pretty valueless as a public means of communication.

I know Zenimax want us to report stuff, but really thats asking the community to do the job for them, and its too reactive... Players need to be told to chill by authority figures, or given temp bans from chatting when they cross the lines.

I have to say I'm astonished at the low level of interaction Zenimax has with the players. I had a nice encounter with a G>M once when he was helping me with some visual bug I had - and I gotta say I really wish these guys were in-game and in-chat a lot more.

Use only guild TS and chat.

In the zone chat rarely say something clever.

And yes, there is a democracy if you do not want problems with the language, go to the U.S. server.

I'm playing Wildstar right now and their zone chat is no different , you just have to learn to put them on ignore . Just so you know , there is a community in this game , just the other night when 15 people camping for Bloodfiends , one person decided to kill the spawn and he got reported . It's really up to the community to help police the game .

Do you really think that he will be punished for it? xD
Wake up, and it was designed that it will be difficult to get infected.
If this were not so, there would be only a quest to becoming a vamp or wer.

Yeah, I'm going to say that there needs to be, at the very least, a separation of General Zone Chat and Trade Chat, so that those of us who aren't interested in some random player's opinions on the politics of the day (or whatever) and who just want to buy/sell/trade can have that option.

Of course, the usage of such channels couldn't reliably be enforced -- right now the in-game GMs are overwhelmed with banning bots, so all of this is probably way too much to ask at this time. :\

Every society have their minorities who can not handle the people who are different than others. Just ignore them, as European population in this year's Eurovision i think people understood clearly who judges people with their appearence only a few minority and countries. You can make a resemblance that really a few countries made petitions against but in the end silent majority show to vocal minority these kind of things in modern era is not accaptable.

Ignore the ignorance, all i can suggest...

I was on night at a spot where people was camping for Bloodfiends. When the action started, I decided to heal players, and the Bloodfiend died. It was accident and I found it very amusing. Sure the players reported me from harassment, foul language, bots...what ever they could think of. Never got anything.

I also report every bot I see, and whisper to the owner (yellow name) that I am very happy to report his account of exploiting, and wish him a very nice day. I usually even flatter players using fowl language, most of them got the idea, some don't. I know that some day I might be banned, but I'll make sure there's no reason what so ever.

No, I just flatter how intelligent and wise players are online, and ask the to share their best knowledge and wisdom. My point is also the lack of pure manners and respect for people.

Why would you waste your time 'chatting' with a character you're convinced isn't being actively played by a human being. and likely as not disabled /whispers anyway?

After all, English-speaking players have their own zone Chat.

So people whining about the Germans and the French in general chat,
    please... shut up.
And go on your own channel.

Or let Zeni change zone chat on trade chat.
Since I'm a Russian-speaking, for me, it will be better.
    Feel the irony...

    @ the OP

Its the nature of the beast sadly when you are playing a MMO. The anonymity of ppl not really knowing who you are drives some to just show their whole ass. And depressingly, some of the worst zone chat i've seen in TESO is like kindergarden nap-time compared to some of the truly vile stuff i've heard in other games.

That said, all you can do is report what you really feel crosses lines and move on. You can always supplement that the way i do though. I made a specialized chat tab which only lets my Guild, whispers, and say through.

That really cuts down on crap i really don't need to hear. Of course i do have to wade back into gen-pop if i am in need of something and have to watch the zone chat for sellers offering mats and the like. In those cases though, i just add ppl to my ignore list for a bit until i can conclude my business.

No the NA server is just as bad for the people bashing other's speaking French or Spanish in chat. I've turned off chat and quit guilds because of the "speak American" xenophobic tools.
The only negative experience in ESO is those that make it negative.

eh, I have to say this for me.. Has been one of the cleaner mouthed chats. I can only think of a few times the chat has really gotten over the top and that was racist based.
I do agree however that the communication of the less educated / mature groups can be over the top, in those cases I just go on about my business.
After 20 years in the military the absurd use of the lowest form of language is not really a worry.
