New Skill Styles

Hello! There are 5 new skill styles with this update that were not mentioned in the patch notes. While 4 are fairly self explanatory, the Soul Trap, Carmine Red skill style achievement text doesn't give any indication on how to obtain the necessary fragments. @ZOS_Kevin, can you please see if these were accidentally left off in the notes, or see if we can get any guidance from the achievement text? Thanks!

Out of curiosity, what are the other skill styles? - Oh just googled.

3 are purchasable from Maj for Undaunted Keys (80 total), and Entropy, Violet Purple is obtainable through an achievement.

Lap Seclusa and Exiled Redoubt also have two new skill styles as rewards for achievements.

Do that many players care about skill styles and colors? Why is ZOS spending so much time on minor cosmetic stuff like this instead of focusing on performance and balance changes?

I want new skill styles for wrecking blow and stampede!

Also new skills styles for hurricane and boundless storm that don’t make your whole character translucent please

The folks who work on cosmetics and other assets are not the same people who work on performance. Those are different teams with a different set of skills. We do have engineers actively working on improving performance and another team working on balance changes based on player feedback and in-game play data.

IIRC from PTS The fragments come from the new ‘mini-dolmen’ events (forgot what they were called, but the ones that were in basegame zones where three enemies popped up from a portal). Those have been changed a bit, and I think they now drop the fragments.

Yes, the Alcast guide clarified that - it just didn't come up when I did a quick Google and I didn't see the new skill styles mentioned at all, so I wanted to flag it for inclusion and guidance. Haven't found one yet today but hopefully we'll start seeing them soon!

I do because I'm a roleplayer. Right now I'm playing a druid, so things like Green Wall of Elements is something I'd like for my character.

I more hope eventually for new animals for the warden animal skill line. The focus on Vvardenfell doesn't work for me and I'd snatch up other animals ASAP.

For my playstyle I get more enjoyment from stuff like this than various changes to balancing lol.

I'm still waiting on some Skill Styles for Werewolf Transformation. I can't use any of my existing cosmetics while I'm transformed, so at the very least I'd like to be able to choose my fur color (and I don't want to nerf my combat ability just to use brown fur!)

Werewolf Should be Allowed to Sneak
Please give us Werewolf Skill Styles (for customizing our fur color), Grimoires/Scribing skills (to fill in the holes in our builds), and Companions (to transform with).

[cries in nerfed combat ability because my werewolf is supposed to be grey/brown so I have to keep it unmorphed]

If nothing else, can we please get the three base colors (grey/brown, black/white, and pure white) as Skill Styles already?

I also want the grey fur that NPCs use. It's slightly different from the brown that players use when they don't morph the transformation skill.

There are different devs that work on those changes - studies can easily multitask on these kind of things.

Still no skillstyles that are more subtle effects and doesn't add unnecessary bright colours to things like swinging a weapon.

ya, I don't really get "skill styles" that are just terrible recolors. Like the Sorc Winged pet..that red is just absolutely terrible looking. It looks like the absolute minimum effort was made to create it.

The arcanist blue looks good, things like the wall of elements turning into leaves is cool, but the ones like the winged sorc pet really need to be revisited.

There’s definitely potential to be a great system here instead of just using recolors of skills. For example as a Templar main we’ve hated the new spear model and animation since it was changed for no reason. With this system there’s the potential to allow us to use the old model and animation since we’ve seen other actions’ models and animations be changed such as harvesting actions or recalling that you can get with crown crates or as preorder bonuses. I understand the flurry animation change has similar distaste in the community so allowing us to revert to what we want would be a rare player first move from ZoS using systems already in place.

The red twilight was such a disappointment after so many years of people wanting skins of the sorc pets. It's just a glowy colour swap that makes it even more intrusive than before.

If we shall get just a colour swap, then I rather have one that gives all the pets updated models with better texture, colour and animations. The base game light purple pets look awfully dated.

But mostly I want skins that makes them different daedra. Like turning the twilight into a fire atronach, the scamp into a banekin or such.

Same thing should wardens get different animal skins for the ultimate bear. So odd to have a bear when all other animals are Morrowind theme. Which itself is weird for a class that is supposedly connected to the Green, Y'ffre and such.
[Lie] Of course! I don't even worship Daedra!
