PLEASE increase Sovereign Sow fragments with upcoming Jesters Festival

  • wisewolfgirl
Last year I didn't get any parts but all the years prior I can't remember which ones I got or how many each box per yearly event. Although, I just need 3 more since I got one this year. I just need the brush, libations, & oil. Hopefully, I will get the remaining three in the upcoming days.

    @SilverBride

Thanks for this thread and the very knowledgeable player @DenverRalphy who told us that the Sow fragments drop from the purple coffers this year.

Had one fragment from ages past, one fragment from opening the jesters quest "welcome" coffers on 13 characters.

Two fragments to start the grind... ;)

Day one farming 65 coffers = zero fragments

Day two farming 65 coffers = three fragments

Day three farming 40 coffers = two fragments

And there she is, the queen, her majesty, the beauty...

    Thanks again, wonderful community! :)

Congrats to those who got their pig.

I got three fragments from the purple boxes... but they were all for the dinosaur onesie :( So I decided to collect that instead.

I shall ride through Tamriel in my onesie, sad and embittered, for the next 51 weeks. Hopefully at the end of this period Zenimax will have had time to raise and butcher many swine and offer pieces of them for sale at Philius' stall :p

At the start of the event, I had 2 characters and 2 fragments left to collect. I do all the event quests on both characters. The end of the event, and now I have one last fragment left - Sovereign Libations. To be honest, I don't have much hope of collecting this pet this year. This is my 5th participation in this event, next year will be the 6th. This is absolutely not normal. This is not something a sane game-designer would implement and call intended.

So done like 100's of jester quests now and not a single sow fragment. This must be year number four of trying to complete this pet.

Is there any quest that folks have found gives a better chance? I am also assuming that they do actually drop from the purple boxes and not just the once a day gold box. I know ZOS has said they drop from purple boxes, but just wanted to see if anyone had definitely got a fragment from a purple box.

I got three fragments in year one. One further fragment in year two. Nothing last year. Nothing this year so far. /sigh

    Yes.
I've gotten one more drop this event (so 5/7) and it definitely came from a purple box.

Would be nice if the RNG wasn’t so bad on the jesters festival. I have opened about 250 jester boxes and only gotten 2 sovereign sow fragments. At this point you guys need to sell the sovereign sow fragments with event tickets. I am getting burnt out big time from this event and am not having fun. I should be able to just spend some crowns to purchase my remaining sovereign sow fragments. I keep getting duplicate style pages from my gold boxes too like cmon man…

How do people get that 1% or even above drop chance? Did you sacrifice a goat or something? What black magic is this?

Anyway, I give up. 0 fragments. If one would drop, it would be waaaaaaay less than 1% drop chance. I dream of 0.5% drop chance. I'll get my tickets and that's it.

My previously favourite event is no more.

At this point you guys need to sell the sovereign sow fragments with event tickets

There was a limit of 24 tickets this event. Each ticket you need above that is $0.0175 USD.

    ((Pretty sure I did the math right; $149.99 / 21000 [best deal] = $0.007/crown; 250 crowns for 1 ticket.))

I really don't think adding more things to what event tickets can purchase is a good idea.

I realize it's been normalized. But look at it this way. The Customized Action literally costs $0.15 to get. - No, you cannot count 'previously banked tickets'. You start giving excuses and they'll run with it.

I'd much rather the drop rates be raised to a reasonable amount for a player to get it with ONE character playing 4hrs a day, each day, for the duration of the event. Events like these are suppose to be something fun to do. Not a chance to monetize the player's time even further.

That totally depends on how much they charge for the fragments though. The scraps of minstrel's cloth were only 2 tickets each, so if the pig ones were the same price a maximum of 14 tickets would be required.

Every event I have to make a decision on what to spend my event tickets on. I can never afford everything on offer. Adding items will not change that - it will just add more choice.

Please also remember that many of your fellow players get crowns 'free' with ESO Plus. There is no further 'monetization' involved if they choose to spend those crowns on event tickets rather than crates or houses.

I would definitely rather spend my unused crowns on pig fragments than spend 4 hours every day grinding boring Jester's Festival quests, especially without a guaranteed drop. I'm sure many would not consider 4 hours daily a 'reasonable' amount of time to spend on the game either.

The only reason I mentioned selling sovereign sow fragments is because this rewards has been available for like 5 years now and the RNG is horrible on it. I agree the drop rates need to be raised but it’s been 5 years and the developers don’t seem to care about people like me and others that want to earn the sovereign sow. Even though I did about 260 jester boxes I still am missing several fragments, it’s been this way for several years. I grind and don’t get jack. I’m lucky to get a fragment every 200 jester boxes. At this point I have spent 25+ hours farming an event and still didn’t make much progress towards getting all 7 fragments, I still need 4 more.

Long story short, increase the drop rates for sovereign sow fragments or also just sell the fragments with event tickets

Finally got the Sovereign Libations after 226 boxes this year alone. A single fragment took 226 boxes. This grind was rough, and I hope that future Jesters' Festivals have the fragments at the Impresario or their assistant.

The reason I'm against it is because it's 'one more item' that Event Tickets is used for. And because everyone here is complaining the drop rate is low. It basically means, statistically, you have to use Tickets to get it.

And there are no free Crowns. My Crowns cost me $16.00 every month. And, personally, I use most of that to buy the music boxes.

As for 'four hours'. I figured I'd be conservative. I think to do the Leader Jesters full round (Auridon and back) was like 30 minutes on one character, and I'm geared, know where to go, AR 25 (so fast mount), max mount speed (mount trainer); just blew through the areas barely taking my finger off the SHIFT key.
It's an "Engagement Metric" booster. WoW is famous for them. You create a situation (say an Event) that has drops that have a low chance to drop, so players spend long hours 'playing the game'. It's like how YouTube pushes content creators to do "long-form content" because more ads can be packed into them, which means more money for the creator (as well as YouTube).

And that's why you want a few items as possible available via these Tickets. Because I can promise you, if they do this and it's hailed as "omg, they listened!". They'll add in more drops that have a 0.0001% chance to drop from boxes....or can be purchased for Tickets. - Which I remind you all actually cost $0.0175 USD per ticket. Take the time to add up how many items are, for this Festival, available for Tickets, how many tickets are needed total to 'get everything'. Minus out the 'freebie Tickets' from the daily. I bet you it's around $25 worth of Tickets. Per player. Per Event. Per year.

... And I have done calculations on what the sovereign sow fragment drop probability should be...

There are maximum 49 boxes a single character can obtain this event (6 dailies x 8 days, plus one from the intro quest).

So for a reasonable expectation (i.e., not having to grind more than ONE character), in 49 events, to get at least 7 fragments with 95% probability (1 in 20 players still doesn't get them), the drop rate should be at least 22.75%.

To get them with a 99% probability (1 in 100 players still doesn't), the drop rate should be at least 27.21%.

... So far, it seems to be FAR lower than that.

@ZOS_Kevin -- this is going to be at least FOURTH event where players CANNOT expect to get the sow. Looks like it's a high time to either get it just made available from the impressario assistant, or in some other way (and not during the NEXT Jester's Festival).

@ZOS_Kevin And at almost the end of the event... Out of a dozen people I have been checking with from the start of the event who didn't have the (complete) sow, only one has managed to finish it. One got only 3 fragments doing every quest every day, one got from 3 to 5, others went from zero to 2-3, or remained at 2.

Also, no one I talked to ever got the drops from gold boxes, so that makes it not 49 boxes, but just 41 for a single character -- driving the required drop rate even higher, to 31.95% for a 99% chance of getting them.

... Also, someone in the thread has mentioned that how they are actually not curated, but independent drops, getting "hidden" if you already have one, in which case, you need a drop probability to exceed 75% to have a realistic chance of getting them on one character.

ZOS would be on a sticky wicket if they did this - remember the huge backlash they got for the low drop rate of the replica weapons pages last Anniversary event. I wasn't the only one who cancelled their ESO Plus in protest (although I did reinstate it a couple of months later after they'd redeemed themselves).

I also don't agree with your Maths: in my country my A$15 monthly subscription buys 1,650 crowns, so 250 crowns are worth A$2.27. So at the current exchange rate a ticket is worth US$1.44. Using your calculation I get US$1.79 per ticket, not 17c.

Well another festival over and probably coming up to 600 jester boxes and zero fragments.

Next year will be year number five of trying to get this pig pet.

Dear ZOS it really shouldn't take FIVE YEARS to get SEVEN fragments for a pet. Do you think you could maybe fix it so that next year we can purchase the missing fragments? As you have made these fragments bound and non-tradable, your strategy of poor RNG in order to complete a 5 year old festival reward is just pretty shoddy imho.

I've been trying for years to get the last 2 fragments for the Sovereign Sow. This is the only event pet I have ever cared about having, and being only 2 fragments away for years is beyond frustrating. We only have one chance a day to get these and failing day after day, year after year, is sucking all the fun out of the event.

PLEASE increase the drop rate of these fragments this year.
