I want a pet monkey!

It irritates me that I waited to play this game until news about PS4, and now that I have it, the only pet I can get is a mudcrab. WTF? This is how you will *** people off. Give exclusively cool items to people for a limited time, then give nothing as cool to new players. I could accept that I can not have a monkey if there was something equally cool like a pet cat or dog, but after Google searching many different phrases, it looks like there is no information about obtaining a better pet than this stupid crab. I mean, who would have a pet crab follow them around anyways? ***! Does anyone know how I can get a real pet, and please don't tell me to become a sorcerer, because those companions are just as lame. I want that monkey dammit!

That pet sucks too. I bought the game on May 8th after they announced characters could be brought over to PS4. I don't want your collectors pet. I just want a variety of other cool pets to make up for the fact that I did not get a monkey. Every monkey I see is going to *** me off because all I can get is a stupid crab.

Pretty sure the Monkey was a reward for Beta Testing..So youre pissed off because you didnt get it and feel as if you deserve the right to have something you didnt earn? Because unlike the mudcrabs...You had to take part in something to get the Imgakin Monkey.

If you had read my post, you would have seen the part about how I would be happy with some other cool pet if the monkey is so exclusive. And please don't preach that "earned" crap. Wow, you got to play a beta. You're so l33t. I guess that's why you feel the need to ride a high horse in a topic about pets.

If you can buy an explorer pack code somewhere you get a scuttler pet too. Maybe Zeni can release more monkey pets in other events.

As I don't like missable stuff in mmos I have no problem if they are given to new players.

/edit This site mentions dog and cat pets, however how to get them is unknown yet.

I don't understand why beta testers would get a cooler pet than Imperial Edition buyers. The beta was free, and they get a monkey. We pay $20 extra, and get a crab? Lame. I've always enjoyed having companions in TES, so I naturally searched to see what was available, and the choices look pretty lousy.

That spider looks cool though. Thanks for the tip.

Once they get most of the bugs out of the way I'm sure the game shop will have variety of vanity pets that you can purchase for your char.

If you read the comment as screaming, that's an issue with your own comprehension abilities. I was simply voicing my opinion on a forum about a game I play. Calling me a child just shows that you are trolling. Go away.

I have a beta account. I made a new account for launch. To me, that monkey is about the most boring pet they could have in the Elder Scrolls setting. I do hope that they add more pets in the future. It's worth pointing out that you probably wont get a cat, as half of the cats seem to khajiit of some sort. I'm not sure why else they'd be off of the kill list while all of the other critters are slaughtered for fish bait.

Also, the OP comes off as a childish rant, full of negativity. You could have asked that more pets be added and given some examples. That would have been constructive. Instead you insult all of the other currently existing pets (not a simple "I don't like these", but "these are stupid and lame"). You swear and rant. Then ask for help.

Suffice it to say, you aren't helping yourself much with that kind of post.

Personally, I'd like to have a little baby guar. But, alas, I have absolutely zero knowledge of vanity pets; where to get them, how they work, etc.

It doesn't bother me, though. It won't have any impact on whether or not I play the game.

Aside from the codes for preorders and whatnot the only one I know of that's available is the dwemer spider. There is a pet guar in the game files, along with 5 or so other ones, but I don't think there's a way to get them as of yet.

Please come down off your high horse and join the rest of us normal people who have emotions. You are not fooling anyone by pretending to be this moral internet white knight. Half the replies in this thread give me a good first impression of this forum community. Simply, typical internet responses. Many people who are not happy come to forums to vent on strangers. If you read the OP in a certain tone, that's was your personal perception, and not necessarily my intent.

My OP was simply to explain that it is annoying that beta testers get a cool monkey, but I have to settle for a crab. To strengthen this annoyance, I added a few expressions to show emotion. Learn how to interpret things the way they were intended to be read, not the way you want them to be read.

Of course this monkey is not a big deal, but it is annoying the hell out of me that I can't have it. TES is the kind of game where I become obsessed with making my character perfect, and this monkey which I could have had has made my character less perfect now.

First. reread your own original post. It comes off as an irrational angry child. It may not be how you intended it, but it is how it comes across.

Second, welcome to the real world. Not everybody gets everything just for participating. There are always going to be some things people who were around earlier got, no matter the venue. When you start a new job do they make sure you get one of every gift they may have given employees previous to your being hired? When you go to the store do you insist that they give you every deal you ever missed? Just because you feel entitled to something cool for being player #1,287,436 doesn't mean you are.

Three, do you really want them tossing out new vanity pets right and left rather than working on the game? Vanity pets offer nothing. They were an interesting little perk but they do absolutely nothing for you. I have all three you could get for beta, pre-order and imperial. Not using them because it is pointless. And I would rather see dev time going to fixing bugs and giving new usable content.

This is a video game, not a job. A job is where you work for money. I pay them to play this game, I don't work for them. As a customer, they work for me (or for my money).

Anyone who says the monkey is useless, send it to me. You obviously have taken it for granted. I'm not saying this is a big issue, but I think they put a little time into making that monkey, and they should give us new players something equally nice. A crab is not a pet. A monkey can be. Or give me a dog or cat, or something so I won't feel less important. I chose to avoid the beta because I didn't want an unfinished game to ruin my experience, but I want a cool pet like everyone who has that monkey. As a paying customer, I think my money entitles me to some fairness.

Really though, it's not that important. It's just irritating that the cool pet was for the beta testers. They should have gotten the crab, and the monkey should have been something you could buy.

-right clicking on them in the inventory and pressing destroy
-that's about it

It's not about their usefulness. A pet is just cool to have. It adds to your characters story. Some of us like to immerse ourselves in the fantasy. I don't care if the monkey can do anything. It looks cool. That is useful enough.

The monkey is a reward for those of us that played the Beta, reported Bugs and tried to help the Dev´s in the past year or so.

I don't think it would make sense handing this pet out to people who didn't even know about ESO before March 2014.

You can always ask Lerisa if you can take Howler out for a walk, but you better don't mess with her.

Well, don't you feel special. FYI, I've played since Oblivion. I knew about ESO since it was announced two years ago. Had I known you would get the only cool pet in the game, I would have played the beta for 5 minutes just to get it. And I'm pretty sure the majority of beta testers don't help with anything. There are other ways to reward players than to give them the only cool pet in the game. That's just lame.

Monkey was for one of the last beta events they had. It was basically a stress test. They wanted as many as possible to log on so they gave everyone a monkey as a thank you for helping them test server loads.

If I remember right there was some special time they wanted as many as possible to log on but you could do it anytime during the weekend and still get the monkey. So logging on for even just 5 min then could have helped them with servers.

I am sure they will add more cool pets you can get later.

For those who haven't participated in the beta: There's someone selling the damn monkey on eBay for $15.

(And yes: I was desperate enough to buy one...)
