1h weapons costing 8 alloy

So here's some food for thought. Why does a 2h weapon cost the same amount of mats as creating a duel wield setup. You have to invest twice the amount of mats just to get the relative amount of stat values. I think pushing a 1h weapon to cost half the mats is a fair request or even common sense. Am I wrong for thinking that way?

Your getting two separate slabs of metal to swing around, why wouldn't it cost twice as much compared to a single slab of metal.

If we are going to go down that rabbit hole, shouldn't smaller pieces of armour use less material, eg a belt/shoulder/gloves vs a chest/leg/head piece.

The cost of the upgrade mats is standardised, regardless of the weapon/shield/armour/jewellery it all costs the same amount of the relevant upgrade materials per piece that is good enough IMO.

Doesn't really make sense to me. One slot for armor and weapons costs 8 gold mats to upgrade with jewelry being 4. A two handed weapon therefore should require 16 gold mats.

They changed Jewellery to be in line with the other crafts, it costs the same 8 gold mats now to upgrade.

    Forgot about that. Thanks.

A 2H GS is significantly larger than a couple of daggers, so the analogy of 2 slabs of metal does not fit the logic of the size.

It is worth mentioning that it takes 2-1H weapons to provide the same set bonus as a 2H GS.

I do agree that this is all standardized and I will add this is not unique to ESO.

A 2-handed weapon originally didn’t provide two set bonuses. If they had wanted to scale the amount of materials needed to the number of set bonuses provided, they could have done it at the time of that change - and it may well have involved doubling the materials needed for 2-handed weapons, since armor pieces also only give one set bonus each and their mat requirements match those of 1-handers. I wouldn’t want to pay double for a 2-hander, personally, so I’m ok with keeping them cheaper in terms of cost per line item bonus.

Considering that every other armor piece is “one thing” and a 2H weapon is “two things,” I think the more likely scenario would be for them to require 16 tempers to gold out a greatsword as opposed to 8 for a 1H. And I don’t think people would enjoy that.

See also the possibility of making 2H weapons cost double the transmutes too.

    It’s fine as it is.

Plot twist: ZOS changes it so 2h and large armor cost 16 gold mats to upgrade and every other upgrade and crafting mat requirement is doubled as well for these pieces. Now everything is line with its size.

Be careful what you wish for.

Enchantments used to be full power on dual wield weapons, but they were cut in half as it made dual wielding too powerful.

Why shouldn't the cost to upgrade a one-handed weapon be halved as well? Further, the cost to upgrade a shield should be halved also, since it takes up just one slot, like a one-handed weapon does.

I mean....its a sound argument. There should be consistancy to logic used in game.
