If getting a Vision is so earth-shatteringly important, can one not hold the phone to one's ear with one's shoulder for just a second in order to grab the Vision?

I've had the phone ringing during a cycle boss fight and have to snatch it up immediately so as not to miss the call after combat is done. Fortunately for me It's never been a call that was so important I couldn't step away for a moment, or lasted so long that I timed out. But I can see how it could happen.

It's not earth-shatteringly important, but given the entire nature of the one-and-done infinite archive runs, why is there even a timer on visions in the first place?

No, not in this case.
It was the reply on a medical test that I had been waiting for. Waiting for this result was stressful. So any call was answered swiftly and was way more important than what was happening in game.
There are areas in the game where timers make sense.
This isn't one of them.
