POV: Your burst heal now costs 5700mag. What do you do?

My answer.
Realize you're playing Werewolf and that the heal is oppressively expensive. Not only is it expensive for a stamina based class, but it's expensive for ANY class.
The cost of this skill should be in the range of healthy offering at around 3200-3600mag, or if a HoT is added (please add a HoT to this skill) around 4200mag.

I think they meant playing something other than Werewolf.

I literally can't think of the last time I looked at a skill's cost when considering if I would slot it or not. There are so many strong tools for sustain in this game, even in werewolf form.

Try making a DK werewolf (a dragonwolfknight? a wereknightwolf? werekight dragonwolf?) and slap on Za'ans or something else that can reliably proc burning or poisoned status. Or look into sets like Wretched Vitality or Desert Rose that can drastically increase your sustain.

All werewolf skills are hella expensive but its made up for (on paper) with the massive increase to stamina and stamina recovery. How does that help with this magicka costing skill...? Good question!

This is exactly my point. It's okay for the heal to cost mag, but that's a higher amount of mag than any other heal that I've seen. Coupled with not having a HoT, you're gonna run out fast under pressure.

What I find especially amusing is that Hircine's Fortitude, the morph which gives recovery buffs, only gives you buffs for Health Recovery and Stamina Recovery. Why on Earth would Werewolf need Magicka Recovery, right?

Seriously, though — Werewolf can't restore Magicka through their toolkit. Equipping a staff and heavy attacking only restores Stamina while transformed. There's no Magicka Recovery buff in the toolkit. Given our only on-demand heal (i.e., no corpse or damageable enemy requirement for Devour or Claws of Life, respectively) costs an insane amount of Magicka, we're pretty much expected to use means outside of the Werewolf toolkit to be able to heal ourselves.

One of the many reasons I'm hoping for more Werewolf balance changes or a Werewolf Grimoire in the near future...

If you thought the heal was expensive look at the resource cost to fully utilize pounce. :)

One thing that´s kinda ironic is that for a pure "burst heal" Hircine´s Fortitude actually has the best/strongest scaling in the game last time I checked. So purely on paper it´s actually a very strong heal (48% of your max HP before any modifiers). The problem is that werewolf can´t sustain it. It makes sense that the heal is expensive but at the same time not.

Personally, I'd gladly trade some of that burst healing for the heal over time that Hircine's Fortitude used to have. Maybe reduce the healing of Hircine's Fortitude to match Hircine's Rage, but add back the heal over time.

As it stands, Werewolf in PvP is kind of forced to stack Health for their burst heal since they can't heal over time. Very odd considering werewolves are stereotypically known for their regenerative healing.

I've been using the slottable champion skill refreshing stride. It increases your mag recovery by 500 while sprinting. This, plus decent sustain armor, is more than plenty to allow you to kite kite kite and get away without dying.

Refreshing stride helps, but it doesn't make up for the cost of the heal. If I'm in a 1v1 I don't expect to be running. Even having armor over cap and 3k critical resistance doesn't stop people from hitting me with skills that are at or above the amount of one burst heal. A few of those hits and the mag is gone. No HoT means getting stunned removes all healing. Anyone else can get stunned and still at least have a HoT going.

Yup it's just the state werewolf is in these days, without a healer in the group to provide a HoT.
