If console can't participate, maybe they should run a free week of ESO pc for this so more people can join if they want to. Not the best option, but it would help get more people on the test as well. I'm sorry console people, it must be really frustrating to not be included.

To be fair.. I don't think they need to have every server across all platforms involved. 1) the work to make all those changes on all those platforms is a monster and 2) they can get the data they need from this smaller sample size.

I get where you're coming from but I just don't think it's realistic (time wise) for them to do all that work for all the platforms when they don't really need to in order to get the data they need.

When are you gonna make the existing pvp better than giving it a total overhaul to completely remove a game mode i enjoy? Is the vengeance stuff done out of laziness or out of lack of the ability to comprehend basic game mechanics?
Maybe if you'd use your eyes instead of being rude and offering no constructive feedback, you'd have have answered your own question. Because they've answered them over and over and over again.

Us using RDK to track our ultimates shouldn't have an impact on your client sending/receiving data for what its worth.

ADD-ons should only have an impact on the user running them. IF there is an add-on that impacts others (like bandits I think it was) they were tracking it. But even then.. it only had an impact on people inside the group.

Ball groups (and Zergs I don't know why people leave out the Zergs too) just cause a lot of calculations in general and that is where the impact on performance comes in. It's just a flow of data... like a fire hose amount of water trying to fit into a garden hose.

Let's face it' we're all speculating about what causes the performance bottleneck. The only ones who know how the code works in detail are the ZoS server team, and clearly even they're speculating a bit otherwise we wouldn't need this test.

It's cool that the test standardizes stats and gear - even though it's PC only, that makes it participatable for console players who happen to have a PC copy. I have one which I use once in a blue moon to get an early look at something on PTS, but if I can just spin up a baby toon on the live server and participate for the week then that's great. (@zos_kevin will there still be a requirement to be level 10 to enter Cyrodiil during the test, or can I make a baby level 3 toon of any class I choose and enter the test?)

Ball groups (and Zergs I don't know why people leave out the Zergs too) just cause a lot of calculations in general and that is where the impact on performance comes in. It's just a flow of data... like a fire hose amount of water trying to fit into a garden hose.

I think the reason most don't include zergs is because zergs typically don't have the same number of skills being activated per second, per player, that ball groups have and even when they do, it's for a minute or 2, not constantly for sometimes hours at a time, while the zerg is online (even including when outside of combat).

Most of the time whenever I have fought a zerg, it takes 2 or more entire faction stacks all fighting in 1 keep to even come close to the same effect on server performance that 1 single ball group has with their constantly spammed, long duration, multi-tick, multi-target inputs (that they constantly spam even when running between keeps in the literal middle of nowhere).

This doesn't mean zergs never have an impact, but the impact is drastically different and often very short lived.

The best way I can see to test this would be to have 3 factions worth of ball groups all log into 1 server at the same time (5-6 ball groups per faction based on estimated current pop caps) and have a 3-way fight at 1 keep, then see just how laggy it gets when they start fighting and compare that to how laggy it is when there's only 1 ball group (or no ball group) and a faction zerg.

My theory is the difference in lag generated would likely be astronomical and could potentially be enough to crash the servers if that were to ever happen, especially since unlike zergs, ball groups don't wipe as easily due to all the ticking HoTs and stacked shields, prolonging the duration of the intense calculations being processed by the servers for such battles.

Not offering this vengeance campaign to console players is a giant slap in the face to the community especially when you keep ignoring our requests for a console ---> PC transfer service!
End the tedious inventory management game.

    A. Yes, everyone will be given basic weapon types, and players can swap out as much as they like.

    A. We made no special accommodations to siege weaponry damage, but expect them to hit harder because characters in the Vengeance campaign don't have the modifiers they have to incoming damage that exist elsewhere.

Both of these answers fail to mention that it' concerns a test. :o You can't reference vengeance without mentioning it is a test! People will freak out!
Please stop making requests for game features. ZOS have enough bad ideas as it is!

Hi all, just wanted to flag that now that many of you have read the Q&A in the general section, we have now moved this to the PvP Section. Just keeping this organized. We will do the same with the general PvP Q&A when that is ready as well.

I'm sure this has been thought of, but in case it hasn't, I think the problem of lag is both simpler and more complicated. I think it has nothing to do with in game code whether that is server side or client side.

I think it has everything to do with location - both of the servers and the players.

If there are fifty people in a battle, and one of them is in Germany and one is in Australia while the rest are spread out across the continental United States... that means most people have a ping under 100ms (assuming their internet is decent). Two people have a ping somewhere between 200ms and -2147483647ms.

I suppose the in game code probably does effect this, somewhat, because I assume it is coded in a way to *within reason* "be elastic" in order to allow everyone to enjoy the game. However, since two people have extremely poor ping, it is going to constantly be stretching the calculations to the maximum which translates in to bad gameplay for everyone involved.

I think having zergs does effect this too, somewhat, but if there were for example 250 people all playing with an AAA ping, I think the game would function entirely fine (assuming no hardware limitations).

To me, the solution is one that actually helps the game as a whole and would improve it for *everyone* across *all platforms* although it would probably be more complicated than changing in game code.

More servers more distributed. Cross play allowed. That way instead of their being an issue of not enough players in Australia on PSN, everyone in Australia can play together irregardless of their platform.

Of course if you have friends on the other side of the world you can still play with them, but you will be forced to deal with the poor ping - so you would be better off playing overland or *contained instance* content so your poor ping only effects your group. This way Cyrodiil's code could be changed in a way to allow less "elasticity". This would unfortunately effect those who simply have poor internet - something I am all too familiar with - but that is even more of a reason for the utility companies that provide internet access to stop being greedy *** and do what they should've done decades ago.

    TLDR:
    • moar servers in moar places
    • one tamriel = one tamriel
    • everybody wins when we aren't segregated (and forced to pay just to access the game like console players are. ahem.)

Is this still planned? There's only a few days left in February.

Can we get an update on the 2nd half of the PvP Q&A? I'd even be fine knowing it's been delayed into March. I just hope it hasn't been forgotten about entirely, what with all of the recent server issues and the Whitestrake's Mayhem event taking up everyone's time and focus.

This has not been forgotten. We are actually going to splitting this up into a few sections because of the total amount of questions. But we are getting a batch to be translated later today with the hope of having it available next week for everyone.

Have there been any updates about the other sections? Can we expect the next section to be posted sometime after the Vengeance test concludes?
