No class (Skills or passives) - Could this be viable at all?

I've seen lots of 'no class' builds that don't use any class skills but I was wondering would it be possible to build a viable (standard content not hard vet stuff or raids etc) that you could level through where you literally never equip any class skills so you don't get the passives either?

I'm thinking of trying a 'challenge' by leveling through a character to 50 just using weapons/guilds/armour skill lines and passives etc...

Open to feedback or idea on how to do such a build..

Cheers

Considering that such content is trivially easy as is... Most definitely.

Even more so with Scribing available so you can make a plethora of skills that compete with class skills. I know I've had some NB builds where I was using 90% Scribed/Weapon skills because they were just better than class skills.

The only thing you really miss out on is the class passives, but some classes (Like Necro) have kind of trash passives anyway and they can do just fine.

In fact, I've even leveled several characters to 50 without class passives simply because I didn't have the spare skill points to actually get them and it really didn't make much of an impact.

Even at level 50 you can get pretty far with something like Oakensoul which provides all the buffs you need (In lieu of obtaining them from class skills) and reduces the number of overall skills you need (Meaning you can rely mostly on the stong Scribed skills and useful Weapon Skills like Stampede/Carve/Deadly Cloak/Ele Sus/Pulsar)

You can do this on any class, but some classes have better passives than others (not all class passives require a class skill to be slotted). Most notably sorcerers and Templars have a lot of good passives that can translate to non class skills.

For some reason I kept reading this as no skills or passives at all, which would not work. But no class probably would work for overland, yeah.

Hmm... without Class skills or Scribing, I'd probably work towards a setup like this while leveling (depending on the weapons I'd want to use):

Yeah I'm talking about no class skills or passives. I will be looking at scribing though as I don't see that as a 'class' thing.

So for I'm lvl 20 and apart from right at the start I haven't missed the class stuff at all... I have the guild skill lines, weapons, armour and alliance stuff and I don't seem to have any issues so far. I haven't done the psijic skills yet though...

I'm sure some will surface as the lvls increase but so far it's fun.

Why wouldn’t you want class passives that don’t require a class skill to be slotted? Those are just free passive stat boosts.

Werewolf is kind of like a no-Class build. Because you can only use Werewolf skills while transformed, you can't utilize the bulk of your Class passives; though some of them do work — and some can even have unique interactions with your Werewolf skills, like Expert Summoner changing the bonus given depending on whether you're a Pack Leader or a Werewolf Berserker.

If you wanted to disable your remaining Class passives in a Werewolf build, you could just unlearn them. It's worth noting that while transformed, your Weapon passives are automatically disabled, even when they would otherwise work, but not so for your Class, Guild, Racial, Armor, Craft, and Alliance War passives.

So, if you want to go with a viable no-Class build, I'd go with Werewolf, which is designed to not use or need your Class.

Partly to see if it can be done and but also I don't want to level the class skills to get the passives....

So far it's working fine for all content I've tried.

I can see me leveling the class skills once I get this char to lvl 50 but so far I'm quite liking the playstyle from zero class input so to speak :)

One of my Vampires still does this at CP2500......

But sometimes it's a struggle..... I do not like fire....... and it's everywhere!! :D

Edit to add:- If you are ok with scribing are you ok with companions? Can make it slightly easier at higher levels!

Can you do it? yes... Are you going to basically be carried through group content? Also yes.

I have a couple toons like this. Works fine in most content. I don't PvP or do any DLC dungeons though (yet).
