I don't check regularly for maintenance announcements so I just went with what I was told in the event announcement...

There was plenty of time to complete this GP!

They gave us plenty of warning well ahead of time that this was going to happen, and suggested getting the pursuits done prior to today because of it.
This one isn't on them.
Maintenance has always taken priority over stated deadlines, just the way it is.

Sucks because I had 11/12 of the Golden Pursuits done. The only one I still needed to do was locked behind a time gate (get X amount of daily log in rewards). I would have been able to get it once the day rolled over around 2 am. But I couldn't because of maintenance. So no 12/12 reward chest piece for me I guess.
Honestly I think locking the rewards behind an account-wide time gate is just stupid bad faith practice for something like this. Objectives tied to something you have no way of catching up on if you have a life outside the game is really crummy.
There's not a single way at all for me to force getting extra daily log-in rewards to make up the difference of time, whereas when we had stuff like "visit a stablemaster", it was one per character, so you could log in and out of multiple characters to catch up on the objective.
Yeah, of course it means spending (way too much money), but at least with event tickets you can pay for extra tickets to get event items, so you're not hard-locked out of event rewards if you didn't have much time to participate in the event.

It's good that Kevin said on Reddit he would pass on feedback that there should be a way to run/extend a Pursuit so it could co-run with a new one in future. They acknowledge it's a problem, which is a good first step.
People see an announcement in game and an in-game timer and assume that's the rules they have to follow. Yes there was plenty of time to get it done, but if you don't know that the timer was incorrect then you won't plan around that. Heck, you might only find out about it 12 days ago and be assured that the daily pursuit will guarantee it for you!

None of my characters are vampires, because I have no use for a vampire character. And I'm not going to force vampirisim on one of them just so I have to go back and pay crowns to have them cured of vampirism just for this event, that's stupid and a waste of money.

You don't have to pay crowns to cure vampirism (or lycantropy). Arkay priest can do it. Not sure where he is in other alliances, but in Pact he is in Riften, Mages guild, just upstairs, Prelate Sabinus or something like that. Cost less than 1000 gold, exact sum depends on level, I believe.
thegreatme wrote: »Doesn't that only apply as a branch of the "getting bitten" questline? Where you can either choose to cure it (so you're not forced to be a vampire/werewolf since you can get infected by NPCs during certain times) or embrace it (thereby making it permanent)? Last I checked, once you choose to commit to vampirism/lycanthropy, the Arkay priest option goes away with the completion of the infection quest.

Wrong.
At 11/12 Pursuits completed, my only options left were "Get X amount of Daily Rewards" (which took up two out of 14 options) or "Feed 50 times as a vampire".
