Hero or Villain - Dynamic world changes

OK I'm considered a hero by the Dominion which is kinda cool (especially as the Queen is also a hottie) but all this praise isn't entirely justified !

By now most of us have run into a town only to hear the guards or some random NPC say "well done" or "We survived because of you" or... well you get the idea.
But to be honest I've had to crack a few skulls to get here, had to make choices, life and death choices.

Wouldn't it be nicer AND much more realistic if we also got negative responses?

Zeni obviously already use player proximity detection (sure they have a cooler name for it) for use when NPCs run up to you to inform you about a quest or mission. This same feature could also be used to create a villainous feel to your character with minimal effort.

Wouldn't it be cool if some NPC ran up to you saying "How could you kill my husband?" or "That merchant you robbed was my wife, she was only trying to make a days coin"
Hell why not go all the way and have certain NPCs throw a piece of fruit or something at you just for the LoL's.

Now we have a much more dynamic environment, an environment where you feel your actions (good or bad) are having an effect. OK its only fluff BUT it adds to the atmosphere, gives more depth to the world.

All zeni would need to do is record a few more voice-overs (I'm sure half the staff at Zeni would do it for free just to hear their voice in-game) everything else needed is already in the game.

Its coming. A criminality aspect of the game is in the design and will be here soon enough :)
Tl;dr really weigh the fun you have in game vs the business practices you are supporting.

Yes, you are correct, but they are a little generic. What I'm suggesting is something more personal to each players game.
For example I've lost count of the amount of traders I've stolen from and yet nothing has been done about it.
Would be nice to hear a guard say they are "Keeping an eye on me"

I've made so many one-time decisions while playing and yet I can't think of a single time when I've really noticed the consequence!

Something like this would very much fit in with the upcoming addition of pickpocketing and the Thieves Guild. Its little things like this that are often overlooked and yet can add such depth to a game.

There is one, I believe it is AD lands (Grahtwood?), where there is a quest where you can choose for someone to be murdered or spared. I chose for them to be murdered and there is one NPC who constantly reminds me that I let that person be murdered.

I agree though, more dynamic conversation would be nice. It bothered me when I was leveling my first character and he was a vampire, that no one would notice that I am vampire, not even molag bal or any other vampire in the world.

In the grander scheme of things, many of those choices don't matter in the slightest though. Maybe they will at some point, but many times this game gives you the illusion that your choices have an impact on the world, when in actuality they mean little. For technical reasons I understand this and I still really like the game regardless.

There's one quest in EP where you have three different "red" choices. I don't want to give spoilers, but you can choose to break the person's heart by telling them the truth or spare their feelings. No matter what you choose, her reaction is exactly the same. No difference whatsoever.

I agree, I think it would be such a great touch to see your actions mean something. Maybe not so far as "Fable" type changes, but at least so you know you're making an impact. Since we ARE the one true hero, right?
