I don't understand Banner Bearer and the tooltip and the community disagree.

There is a lot of misunderstanding in the community as to what Banner does. Lots of people say that you can only have one banner active at a time. Lots of people say that we should all be running different banners so that we are improving Fire Banner, Martial damage, et al and lots of people say that the Banner only applies to you. Yet more people say that certain parts of the banner apply to you only and other parts apply to all. So, I'm very confused and hoping that someone can help me understand?

Banner provides its effects (Except Class Mastery Script) to the user and up to 6 allies within the radius.

Class Mastery only benefits the user of the Banner.

A player can only benefit from the effects of a single banner (Typically it will prioritize the one that was cast first).

Yes, you only get one banner. Yours if you're the one casting it, or whoever's is the first you walk into if not.

Where Banner really excels is with the Class Mastery script, particularly for Arcanists. It will passively generate a Crux every 5 seconds, so (along with having Inspired Scholarship up) you're able to simplify your entire rotation to flail > beam > flail > beam > ... and have a full 3-Crux beam each time, and the fact that you're beaming that often means that your resources aren't under that much strain so the banner doesn't have much of a downside. The most popular Affix is Heroism, which also means that the banner bearer will also be able to passively generate ultimate as well.

Thanks I have been using it on a healer thinking that it would boost the group. But if 2 or 3 others run it then it's likely only boosting me. Mostly been running it for heroism

Major buffs also don't get provided to your groupmates, only to you (the banner bearer). Minor buffs are given to groupmates who get your banner.

Also, the AoE banner focus script does not currently affect Azure, as Azure is counting as single-target damage right now. That will be fixed next patch, so especially arcs running Azure will likely want to switch to that.

I run a banner when tanking/healing I run a mix of reduce non ulti skill cost, healing, minor resolve.
