If it was really a new player just needing soul gems they would stop asking after they got the first stack.

When it's the same player asking in multiple zones multiple times a day every day, it's someone just profiting off the generosity of others.

Khajiit hoped this thread was about the begging NPCs that go through the beggar-y motions but won't take khajiit's golds when he tries to help them. Something of a crimp in the tail, to be honest.

Would it not be delightful if one could actually hire one of these beggars and give them tasks to do/quests? "Go get khajiit 10 Rubedite ore, and this one will give you X gold" or "Go find < player x > and give them this package and return and khajiit will give you X gold".

Khajiit thinks it would be great fun to see all these beggar npcs running around doing fedex quests for other players, yes?

I want this so bad... I've been homeless and not being able to help the ones in game hurts.

Hustlers gonna hustle. Don't like it, don't feed them. Getting resources really isn't too hard, if they are looking for something specific you could always educate them on how to find it.

I see them at many off ramps in real life, it must work or they wouldn't sit there for hours, eh?

Being unhoused is in no way comparable to trying to scam people in ESO. Yikes.

We are one of the best communities in the MMORPG genre. We should be helping out low levels by offering them some gold and low level resources, or training gear. We want to foster more people into our great community.

With the drop in population we should be doing anything we can to make the new players feel welcome.

I'm more in the "Teach a man to fish" camp. I lend aid whenever I can (realistically just whenever I'm of a mind). But that aid usually takes the form of education , advice, or hired muscle, before even considering free handouts.

I think I'd much rather have someone teach me to do things or show me stuff rather then just get stuff. It feels weird. Like seeing cool stuff in the guild bank. It feels weird to take it.

There are always players asking for cost free resources in zone chat, it's not new, but since some days, I see quite regularly players asking "can anyone send anything useful for low levels, ty".

Just before, again in two different zones... Seems to be the new way to go. Have you seen that too? :D

    It's a bot. I reported it already.
    My playing time Mon-Friday UTC13:00-16:00 [PC-NA] CP over2000 now.

My opinion only, I am very likely to give to a guildie, not too likely to give to zone beggar , outside of a ww or vampire bite

Oh I'll 100% help out Guildies and friends, mo questions asked. I force my help on them sometimes haha. But I'm not in the business of just tossing out stuff to randos asking in chat for stuff. I'd offer to show or teach them how to get what it is they're after.

What makes you think they are homeless? Most of the time they are hustlers hence why I compared them.

What makes you so certain that all of them are not? Just because there are some individuals who are "professional beggars" doesn't mean that every beggar is such.

Rule number one: anyone who begs in any MMO's public channels is not to be trusted, and likely not a new player at all. In fact most are con-men praying on actual newish thus inexperienced players.
The only thing one that's legit to ask on public channels in this particular MMO are vampire or werewolf bites, and that's where things turn around in that anyone asking money to bite someone is either a miser or an actual scammer (I remember being asked 50k gold way back before the Big Inflation times as a new players; thankfully I was saved by someone who whispered me not to trust the guy and bit me for free). Been calling out people who try and sell bites in general chats ever since, and biting people for free. Even easier to do now with the armory system and all.

I thought it would also be about the NPC beggars that we cannot interact with.

Oh, and I play with zone chat off. I do not miss anything important.
