We were never told the style pages would never be available again. Well I for one was sure that we were told they were a limited items. There was much complaining about it at the time. That was what drove the manic rush to get the items. So all of those people who thought that were just wrong?
I don't recall them ever saying they were limited items. They said "Never before been earnable in game", but that's about it.

I'm pretty positive the announcement said specifically that those four 10th anniversary style pages were only available during the 10th anniversary event. That's why so many of us, apparent fools now, spent 40 hours and sometimes more grinding them out.9 -

They can keep the element of mystery, that's fine. I grinded that horrible event like crazy and got three of the items, but the Staff of Worms simply did not drop before the event was over. Apprently lack of luck is something we are supposed to be happy with.14 -

This. I actually completely agree that they could have communicated better and that the grind was insane and not something I'd want to do again. I do still have bad feelings about those style pages. I kind of ruined them for myself after initially being pretty excited about them. I won't make that mistake a second time.
The only things I disagree with is that ZOS said they wouldn't come back because afaik I know is it's simply untrue. And that others shouldn't get another crack at them. I know of people who grinded more than me that didn't get them all! I find that to be completely unfair, especially since a 10th anniversary should be special and nice! If any time is the time to spoil your players a little, it is a milestone anniversary!

I suppose it could be "deduced" if you just read the title and skipped the rest of what I had to say, sure, but that would be a pretty dumb way of deducing something. I suppose it's selfish of me to want my days of grinding to actually have meant something, but it's no more selfish than wanting to get the items in the next event if you never got them in the first place. Literally everyone posting in this thread both (a) wants game rewards and (b) wants their game time to mean something. As far as I can tell, there's no reason to accuse any participant of bad motives.2 -

I would agree with this 100% if there was a way to do it without making those of us who put in the time to get them feel like dopes for not just waiting a few months for all of it to drop effortlessly. Tweak the items just a tad? Sure. Heck, release them again with the same drop rate for the same amount of time? Great. There may be other, better ways, too - those are just off the top of my head.2 -

While I understand the goal is to drive up playtime and log-ins, many of their tactics have become increasingly abusive toward their most engaged players.
It no longer feels like the focus is on players having fun. Instead, it seems like they’re trying to extract as much time and money from us as possible with minimal effort.12 -

Yes, this is good. I take back my suggestion to release them again at the same drop rate. Release tweaked items that look incredibly similar so that in some sense everyone can get them while those of us who did the ridiculous grind until they dropped can at least keep some badge of having done so without feeling like Charlie Brown after Lucy yanks away the football, and then never do such a ridiculous grind-drop again.Edited by Jordan_Black on January 7, 2025 12:28AM3 -

You is absolutely right. And others who didn't spend a ton of time and energy trying to track those things down aren't going to understand. They will jump on here, and I think will say anything to justify anything else, any other way around earning it. Many people didn't want to put in the work, so when they started compensating some folks from not being able to participate due to PTS issues, but then EVERYONE wanted 'their' compensation package. It's funny cause I've worked for things all my life and I'm still waiting for mine. I've spent so much money on this game can I get maybe a fruit basket or somethin'?

I, for one, spent the time and effort and got all the styles I wanted through the event, and I am glad they are coming back.
I have long learned to dislike 'exclusive' items, even cosmetic, in video games. While I understand *why* they might have them, to me, I far prefer to have things available, even if it requires work to obtain, than have something around for a limited time and retire forever, never to return, even if the game lasts decades.
I have also seen and hated this attitude of 'people just want things handed to them for free' when something like this comes up.
Even with buying them, each one costs 10 tickets, that means that each one is going to take at least 3 days of doing whatever it will take to get tickets to get *one*. If you want more than just one, then that is going to be even longer, and means that you can't buy anything else the event has to offer for sale.
Even if I had known they were coming back and could be bought, I would have still tried to obtain them through the original methods, because there is no telling what life is going to throw at me and whether I will be able to obtain them during the next event they are offered. Plus, again, at 10 tickets each, it means that I wouldn't be able to get anything else I wanted from the event, if there is something.
So, no, it isn't 'free' from effort, it is just a different type of effort than was before, and even though it is *less* effort, it could instead be argued that the original method was *too much* effort, and something like this should have been how it was originally.9 -

There are obviously a considerable number of players out there who feel the same way. So, in this instance and knowing this now, a better strategy would be to not do this again, not make things too exclusive for reasons stated. I'm of the opinion that at the time they probably hadn't even considered putting them back in game so soon, and certainly not earlier than the next Jubilee. I'd bet dollars to donuts that this development is more of a "Kiss and make up" decision. Because yeah, the whole endeavor was a chaotic mess.

I can and I am.
The implementation during the 10th anniversary event was a mistake.
We told them during the PTS that it was a mistake.
We told them - as @spartaxoxo has said earlier in the thread - to choose two out of 'exceedingly rare, time limited, account bound', they went ahead with all three.
We reiterated this during the event to no effect.
This time around even though they have not admitted fault they have corrected the mistake.
They cannot do this retroactively; those of us who had the event soured by this mistake that is a done deal, it cannot be changed.
However moving forward no one will have to experience it ever again.
That brings me some amount of, if not joy, at least relief.4 -

I think the best we can reasonably hope for is to see them return, maybe later in the year and hopefully easier to get.
This supergrind for birthday gifts never should have made it past PTS. But reverting it now would be a PR trainwreck.
That quote is from a big thread on this last year and one of the most common suggestions was to bring these back within a year with a more reliable way to obtain. I thought then that was the best solution to a bad situation and I think it now. Your feelings are your own. Again, I did work for these drops. I have all of them. It took me hundreds of pulls, dozens of hours, and the entirety of the event. And that was considered "lucky."
Some people look at bad design getting fixed and go "If I had to go through something garbage, then other people should too. Or I should get something extra than what I agreed to grind for."
And some people look at bad design getting fixed and go "Good! Now nobody else has to go through that again."
I fall into the latter camp. I don't feel spite or bitterness that another group of players will have things better than I did. I am glad that ZOS fixed their bad design. I hope I get to benefit from it in the future because this sort of design never makes it way back into the game.
At the end of the day, it was my choice to ruin it for myself with the excessive grind. Nobody made me do that. They official announcements did not say it wouldn't come back. I don't mind grinding when I can sell off or buy excess items or when it's not limited time, so I did not think I would still be annoyed when this was finished. Many of the people in this thread did grind. That's how I earned it and I made a thread complaining about it after I got the rewards. Many of the people in this thread did grind. That's how I earned it and I made a thread complaining about it after I got the rewards. I'm sure the same applies to me as well and quite frankly I can't help it if some don't like what I'm saying. There are things other people have said on here that I don't like. I think they were being really mean, ill-tempered, unprofessional and short-sighted.
Anyways, I respect your ability to express yourself and to disagree but that has to work both ways, but it can't work if every point we don't like is being 'canceled' from the conversation, as I'm sure you can understand. At any rate, specifically I was replying to two other people. If you would like to contribute to what we're discussing, I think that's great but then again if not, I see no reason to make this about the thread itself. This is just another reason why not to do this because people want to talk about it and then some out there don't want us sharing our horrible experiences from that week trying to hunt all this stuff down.

The comment I responded to essentially summed up to that people in this thread just want things handed to them. At least, that's how I read it. And I responded to that by proving that I have personally nothing to gain. And also noting that I saw some of these same people in this thread discussing the grind back then. Some of them have also posted how they did grind all event but weren't lucky enough to get all the drops.
We are all entitled to our feelings. But, not all things are a matter of opinion.
Whether or not any one of us grinded for drops is something that happened or it did not. In this case, several people in this thread did grind.

I think that's a fair point to make when discussing whether or not players on here who disagree with the idea of putting them back in the game are people who didn't bother.
