Feedback about how players are taking being shut down on the forums

We can no longer find other players to do something as simple as share a world boss quest and kill that boss.

I'm tired of being silenced on the forums because "The increase in weekly threads around this issue has caused some users to have a negative experience on the forum overall"

It is very difficult to go through 259 pages of a thread. It is an EASIER read to look at titles that people are discussing.

It is VERY difficult for people to talk about various different subjects in one large mega-thread. You expect us to read through everyone else that isn't talking about what we are talking about? All because it's deemed the same overall subject?

It's like walking into a grocery store. 2 people are off talking about apples. Another group of 3 starts talking about steak. Yes, we're all talking about food. But we don't want to be forced to try to have our individual conversations in one big group where it's hard to have a back and forth.

Trying to talk about a multitude of subjects on forums under one thread is worse than even attempting to do it in person.

The only thing this is doing is making sure players are frustrated enough that we don't post feedback at all and give up on the game entirely.

How does a company not know the basics of how forums should work?

The only time I seen threads get locked is when the discussion is no longer civil or constructive. Also there is already a topic about moderation and censorship already opened. I'm sorry you feel this way about the game and the forums. I hope you find a different outlet that brings you joy.

I'm not talking about censorship. That thread is talking about whether or not people should be allowed to talk about profanities.

I do not care either way if ESO comes up with a list of words that we can't type into the game. It has nothing to do with my feedback.

My feedback is about civil and constructive forum threads that are being shut down.

Perhaps try another venue. There is a fairly active r/elderscrollonline on reddit https://reddit.com/r/elderscrollsonline/

I found out about it in an email that ZOS/Bethesda sent me, probably a few months ago.

This seems like a place to redirect mistreated players away from the official forums.

Does ZOS read Reddit as its way of obtaining player feedback? The point is to give feedback to the company itself. I don't need an echo chamber of multitudes of players saying they are done with ESO. I can find that in all of my guilds' Discords.

You would have to ask ZOS if they read r/elderscrollonline to obtain player feedback. If you search r/elderscrollonline, you will find that Gina Bruno, Jessica Folsom, and Kevin have an account there.

Moderation on reddit isnt much different, in fact the vitriol if you get actioned over there is much more palpable.

If you are trying to read all of the feedback on a topic it is far easier to do it when all the feedback is in one spot rather than in hundreds of different threads.

If your goal is for ZOS to read what you have to say, then put what you have to say in the topic they want it in.

If you want other people besides ZOS to be listening to you and responding to you go to reddit it gets more user traffic.

Its also annoying for us to say the same thing over and over again. People looking for groups? Fair enough. But we don’t need 5 ongoing discussions complaining about the same thing.

This is exactly why we should have a feedback section to the forums instead of being forced to put it in general ESO discussion.

Feedback section is where people go discuss how to fix things freely without bothering players who are just looking for a group on the forums.

That thread is also about over moderation. The profanity filter was just one aspect of the thread and wasn't the majority of the conversation by far.

We don't need to spam the topic. It makes it harder for people who want to talk about anything else.

I decided to try this on PS/NA. Went to Skingrad, took the world boss daily and the mirrowmoor daily.

Was able to finish both. About 5 folks helping out with the mirrormoor daily, and 1 person showed up for the world boss while I was getting ready to ask for help in zone chat. And another person showed up and helped us finish the wb. Did this a little after 3 PM ET, which is not prime time for PS/NA. What platform are you on?

Separately, I lucked out and got a West Weald motif from the mirrormoor daily, and a praxis: colovian garden pillar, stone from the world boss daily. I'm logging out now, probably used up all my ESO luck for today.

I've been frustrated several times in the past month when I saw threads that had insightful, constructive conversations get locked, with admins pointing us to the that 259-page quagmire anytime the topic is even vaguely related to overland content. Separate threads for distinct sub-topics provide value for community discussion.

I agree with you on this to an extent.

Based on some of the stuff @ZOS_JessicaFolsom and @ZOS_Kevin have mentioned I think their future surveys/feedback solicitating methods will help this problem you address.

It's very easy to have a topic get 100 pages deep and the "topic" is no longer clear - theres about 50 subtopics happening within that one topic. IMO these upcoming surveys (tbd on date) will help significantly in gathering valuable player feedback.

    Just my two cents.
