800 Endeavor Mount - Should of continue to sell it.

Everyone knows those Endeavor Apex mounts were sold for 800 crowns in the Crown Store. Why would anyone now, or in the future, willingly pay 8000 crowns for the same item? Regardless of whether it was a mistake, those mounts will always be associated with the original 800 crown price. Nobody is going to say, “My guildmate has it, so I’ll pay ten times the amount now or later.” It comes across as blatantly dishonest—hoping someone will pay 8000 crowns (or even more later) to recover losses from those who purchased it at the lower price.

A better approach would be to continue selling the mount for 800 crowns as a digital item and promote it as part of a Holiday Special. That way, it remains fair, transparent, and appealing to players, maintaining goodwill in the community. Focus on creating newer mounts or bring back some older ones.

the Sunken Trove Apex items were briefly sold for 800 Seals of Endeavour not Crowns, nor Crown Gems.
the regular Seals of Edeavour price for Apex items is 8000.

Though i agree it would be nice for people if the (unintended) discount returned

The "discount" never should have happened. It was clearly an error — everything in that category is supposed to cost 8000 Seals of Endeavor. You can even see the items from the Mirrormoor Crown Crates costing 8000 Seals of Endeavor in that same category!

I don't think this "discount" should return, even if people were allowed to keep the items they got at that incorrect price.

I'm not among them, but do feel a little bad for the people who noticed it at the time and decided not to take advantage of it for fear of being penalised later. They are the ones who lost out a bit here.

Moderation Disclaimer: This first section is going to go over my stance on the situation mentioned in the original post. It adheres to the conversation, and presents my opinion in a constructive manner.

I believe that not removing the mounts purchased at the wrong price sets a bad precedent for the player base. It reinforces the notion that honesty has no value and exploitation of bugs and errors should be treated as an opportunity.

I know there are plenty of comparisons to be made with real life, but the reality is that we are discussing ZOS. A company that already treads on shaky ground when it comes to communication and transparency with their customer base. In my opinion, it is in their best interest to utilize this scenario as an opportunity to learn from the mistake. Consider it an unintended error, put out a public statement confirming the error, leave the price untouched, and move on.

Moderation Disclaimer: The next section will involve mentions of my lack of playing ESO, which can be perceived as quitting. I argue against this because it is relevant as a prior player who is always looking for reasons to return. And the communication practices between ZOS and its player base are a relevant discussion for this.

To put my perspective into the ring, I actually have no horse in this race. I have not played ESO in many months and have migrated to a different MMO entirely. The relevance of this falls on the question, “Why do you scour the forums of a game you don’t play Casul?”.

Simple put, I wish I had a reason to return. Leaving ESO has been one of the hardest things to come to terms with. Years of enjoyment and community is not something most people can just step away from without some emotional heartstrings being tugged. The lack of enjoyment in the current state of the game is counteracted by the nostalgic view of previous wonder and amazement. The bittersweet realization that the experiences and memories that I had previously must come to an end, but also somewhat grateful for the value they brought to me.

I have met many of my long time friends through ESO. That was the one medium we all shared, and this opened the door to long term friendships. At this point we all have stopped playing for various reasons.

I read over these forums occasionally still, looking for a semblance of a reason to have us return. But witnessing situations like this endeavor situation, as a conglomeration with many other issues, just solidifies our continued departure.

With all this being said, this is not a jab specifically at the DEV team. I know there are many cogs in the system of ZOS and there is no specific person or group responsible for my perceived downfalls of ESO.

    For you time restricted readers.

TLDR: Not keeping the price of 800 endeavors sets the precedent that exploiting is ok, and should be considered an opportunity since you won’t lose anything anyways. As a prior player, ZOS taking this stance does not make me want to return as the rules are not applied consistently and disregards the value of honesty from the player base.

I only see two pertinent options here:
    • Remove mounts from collection of ppl who bought it 800 Seals, and refund them ;
    • Give the opportunity to everybody to get it for 800 Seals.

Personally I think we should just accept that it wass a gaff on ZoS' part, and be happy for those who lucked into the unintended deal.

I missed out on it too. But I don't begrudge those who were lucky enough to get it, and don't see a need for ZoS to act on it any further.

This. It's a nice thing for the company to do especially this time of year. Reading sour grapes posts is really discouraging especially this time of year.

Same here. I don't care tbh. Stuff happens and sometimes people luck out.

The first option is what usually happens. But, this time ZOS let those people keep the discounted items. Hopefully ZOS is extra careful not to accidentally discount things like that again — it's only fine when it's intentional.
