I was also struggling with getting a win to complete the Zerith-var favor. Would have thought the novice npc would be easy to beat even if I had very little understanding of the game. But you have to learn the basics quite well to beat them. I had to watch a video guide and learn the game before i got my first win.

I actually started enjoying the game and can now almost always beat the novice npc. Once you understand the game better, you can see they make really dumb decisions.

However, I did notice that the novice NPC player loves to spam the Hlaalu patron (sacrifice a card to get power). But they are able to spam the patron even they have its favor, which I cannot do. If I have the Hlaalu favor, I am unable to use the patron until my opponent turns it back to neutral - but the npc player is able to use the patron every round even it already favors them. This really make it hard to beat them if you go into the game as a new player.

I haven't levelled enough to play again the higher level npc players but the novice level npc is overtuned and they seem to be able to do things that players cant do (like using patron that already favor them).

You can use the Hlaalu patron when it is favored as well. If you're not able to, that's a bug.

I don’t mind Tribute but certain cards and Patrons need a nerf.

I find the novice and proficient NPCs like to spam patrons, which is why I prefer playing experts. Due to the limied decks the 'easier' NPCs have access to, you can easily get overwhelmed by that spam.

If you have access to the reach deck, use that against them and allow them to keep the card cutting patrons. They like to kill their entire deck with 2 of those agents on their side, completely bricking the game for them

EDIT; if you have trouble with the npcs try that strategy.

When playing with Novice NPC, stick to starter decks at max changing Celarus to Hunding. If there is also Pelin, just do not let your opponent to take Armory or Rally. NPC will sell all his cards that have any value to Hlaalu.

It's just the match takes a damn long.

It's not that the novice and proficient spam the patrons, as it's actually just that the AI behind them doesn't understand the concept of ending a turn if there's any possible move left. Which is why they'll pop the Crow patron within the first couple of turns when they only have 1 coin left. Which is fine by me, because then I'll let them keep buying all the crow coin generating cards and have limited ability to convert that coin into power.
