Endeavours are becoming outrageously demanding !

Or are they ? Kill 5 things with weapons abilities, kill 1 chitinous foe today - and there was things like killing 1 plant foe, digging 1 antiquity I think also, these past days. A direct refutation of some recent posts talking about how the endeavours were becoming more demanding it seems !

Although in all honesty these recents reduced requirements for endeavours might be the consequences of these posts, so, who knows ? Anyway, couldn't resist the amusing side of this !

But…I had to actually go to the chitinous foe today! That was so inconvenient, why couldn’t it have spawned right beside me when I logged in? 😂

These come after Kevin said he'd pass on feedback about how the quantities had been too much lately. It might be a coincidence but it's also likely it's a result of those complaints.

It should drop from the sky, already dead (but of course it should still be counted as you having killed it; maybe it could die by falling on your helmet or something).

I, for one, am very thankful for the change. I'm tired of spending almost all of my limited weeknight play time chasing endeavors (and I'm happy to spend less time on weekends too).

1 mud crab vs 200K PVP damage (and guards don't count) ...........

I prefer the ones that can be done in your house but 2/3 for that today is pretty good. We shouldn't have to put much effort into daily endeavors.

Go into a dungeon and trade blows with powerful bosses, and your armor barely gets scratched. Stumble upon a pack of mudcrabs out in the wild, and you get a whopper of a repair bill.

The endeavors are becoming more oddly specific as of late.

That gives me a few ideas for potential Endeavors:
    • Travel x meters
      • on foot
      • by mount
      • while stealthed or invisible
      • in water
    • Roll dodge x times/x attacks
    • Deal x damage
      • with direct damage attacks
      • with damage over time attacks
      • with single target attacks
      • with area of effect attacks
      • with Martial attacks (Physical, Bleed, Poison, Disease)
      • with Magical attacks (Magic, Shock, Flame, Frost)
      • with melee attacks (7 meters or less)
      • with ranged attacks (8 meters or more)
    • Interact with things x times (includes doors, NPCs, chests, dig sites, resource nodes, fishing spots, crafting stations, and anything else you use the interact keybind with)
    • Block x amount of damage

That gives me a few ideas for potential Endeavors:

Not specific enough. Also, they could be combined. Something like "Eat a fruit dish while sitting on a chair and wearing a full set of heavy armor". Might even specify which set. Maybe we could even factor in the weather and the time of day? Oh, this is it: "Play the lute while standing on a bridge at the Isle of Contemplation in full Night Mother's Gaze armour during a rainy night".

And thus we could do endeavors while hoping to please the RND gods into giving us that drop, at the same time.

But seriously, I think experience endeavors like that would be really fun.

I wouldn't mind having ONE location-based condition, but a multitude of conditions would just be tedious and over-complicated. "Catch 3 fish in Auridon" would fine, for example. Have we had any fishing endeavours yet?

Edit: I think it would also be fun if they were to encourage certain activities in populated areas like, "drink 2 drinks in a city", or "drink a drink, or perform an emote, in a city". Nothing too stressful, just somewhat convivial.

I was being genuine with my suggestions. I'd like to see the Endeavors I suggested be implemented in-game. They're not meant to be overly specific — in particular, I think my suggestion about traveling distance while swimming or traveling distance while stealthed would be unique ways to encourage specific types of play.

I'm really grateful the endeavors are fast to do again. It means I don't log in and sigh deeply at them every day anymore, but instead I think, "nice, no inconvenience there today", and either get them done immediately, or go do what I planned and see if they tick off, and then before logout I can do one or two that might be missing really fast.
Thanks to Kevin for passing the feedback to the team, and thanks to them for listening :)

We did have fishing endeavours, it was 'catch 8 fish', simple as that.

To encourage specific types of play ? Like... what... swimming ? Moving while stealthed ? I'm... not convinced, to say the least.

Some endeavours you do without actively doing them, some you have to actively do them, and the main reward, sometime the only reward, is the seals. Endeavours don't really encourage specific types of play, the're just things you either do while do something else ( like running... ), or things you do specificaly for the endeavours ( might be running stealthed ). The later won't encourage a specific type of play, people will just see the requirement, going stealthed, running around until the seals poped - mission accomplished. That's all.

Let's be honest - endeavours are just pseudo-quests with various requirements, and that's all. They can be easy, they can be fun, they can be boring, they can be time consuming, but in the end, it's just : do X things to get some seals. And that's entirely fine for me, and I would add : it's not because there is a reward hanging out that you absolutely need to get that reward. Sure it's not that easy to pass on, because hey, it's just killing one mudcrab to get these sweet sweet seals, why would I just don't do it ? But you alway can just don't do it, there will alway be more seals to get, and you might not need a bunch of them anyway.

And I don't believe endeavours will ever change the way you play, encourage specific types of play : they require specific types of play - killing sheeps, murdering people with the blade of woe, running a dungeon, doing a battleground, killing other players in cyrodiil, fishing, the list goes on ! But that's it. Moreover - you have alway choices : I never did a battleground for endeavours, nor a trial, and others things too I think, because there was other choices. So, once again - endeavours don't encourage specific types of play : they require you to do things, and you can pick the things you like / are able to / are least time consuming / are doing anyway.

You should try to play TES Oblivion as the first foe you will meet when you exit starting tunnel is a Mudcrab when you have almost no skills or tools to avoid to take damage (if you don't use mods to give your PC armour, attributes or skills that you normally don't unlock that early in game).
