VR1: food and recipes

I'm VR1 and I only find low level provisioning mats. I suppose there are VR1 recipes to use them but I've yet to find one by myself or see one in the guild store. Did I miss something?

Oh, and I don't find lore books in VR1 zones. Same question: is it me or there aren't any of them?

    What level is your provisioning and what level zone are you in?

    The mats found differ for the level zones you are in.

    I'm a 50 provisioner. And I'm in Glenumbra. I got VR1 loots from monsters. But provisioning mats are lvl 1-10.

    Nope you didn't miss anything, I ran across the same thing myself. I have a couple of high level blue recipes ( I think they're level 50ish) that I use as my normal foods and when I got to the first VR1 zone found only mats for lower level recipes, I didn't start finding applicable mats for the recipes I use until I hit the 4th VR zone.

    Between VR1 and VR4 I just went back to my faction zone (non VR) where I knew the mats I needed dropped and stocked up so I could lay in a good supply of the foods I used.

    As far as VR specific recipes I haven't seen any so far and I'm not sure they even exist.

    Hope that helps.

    yes but the mats in vet zones aint vet mats for food, its the original mats you would find in those zones .. just another blatant oversight when they decided vet mode was a great idea...
  • mfischer303b14_ESO
    You can only buy the Vet 5 items such as emperor grapes, pinquis, imperial mash at the cold harber general merchant vender for 63g ea

    bah. Bad news ;(
    Thanks a lot for your answers. I won't waste time gathering the mats since they just didn't take the time to implement VR1-VR5 recipes...I sold all my materials/food when I reached lvl 50. I feel somewhat betrayed..

    EDIT: Oh..and no lore books anymore?

    To answer your second question about lorebooks. Most of the general lorebooks are shared throughout the 3 alliance areas. So, the lorebooks in the first areas of the AD area would be the same books that would be in the first areas of DC, etc. If you've already found most of the books while we were finishing your own alliance area, then there won't be many books left to find when you hit VR.

    You're right ZOS should have implemented VR1-VR10 recipes and had the mats drop in the appropriate VR zones but It's not too bad, if you get a couple of 45-50 blue recipes (or even purple ones) that meet your needs and have a common ingredient you can get enough food so that you'll always be able to have a food buff on with just an hour or two of farming up mats.

    The ones I use all have a common ingredient (beef) so I only have to keep like 6 different mats total around and using the provisioning skill that lets you create multiple servings (I have 4 per set of mats) means I have hundreds of the buff foods that I use in stock.

    Hope that helps

    @Vuron, and @‌mips_winnt
    Thanks, I will try to discover the lorebooks I haven't already discovered.
    And I will go back in lvl 40-50 zones for the food mats...

    Now I just discovered that it's also true for Alchemy. So I'll use lvl50 potions for the next 4 VR ranks...I suspect that it will become useless at some point. At least for the health and magicka potions which won't scale properly with the increasing damage taken.

    Provisioning and Alchemy are my two crafting professions: What a letdown..

    I'm not sure what issue you're having with Alchemy. The cloud mist water allows you to make VR5 potions and the mats are the same as all other levels. VR5 is currently the highest level potion that can be made, but they are still much better than the lower tiers.

    btw, there is a good add-on named Lorebooks that can help you pick up any books that you may have missed while leveling.

    VR1 potions are absolutely useful at VR4, so I have no idea what you're talking about.

    However, I do agree that provisioning needs a fix. I actually dropped it because of the lack of appropriate mats in VR zones.

    Thanks for the lore books addon. I'll have a look.
    I can craft the VR5 potions, but I'm VR1, so I suppose I can't use them.

    @nerevarine1138‌
    VR1 potions are "useful". But they probably won't be as useful at VR4 as they are at VR1. But I'll test that to get a better idea.

    I'm VR4. Trust me, their utility is about the same. Your base stats aren't significantly different at VR1 and VR4.

    Alchemy is fine. I carry a full stack of the healing potions that heal all 3 attributes and they are amazing.

    I was horribly disappointed with the recipe thing though. I made a thread in the tradeskill section about it, but basically I didn't get any of the useful level 50 recipes before 50 and after hitting V1 the game decided I could only find V5 recipes. Until I hit V5 I have to use level 40-45 food or buy from players. It's frustrating. I can make food for higher level guildies, but I can't make the food for my own level.

    That's good to hear.
    I'm trying a build with potions in mind: racial/alchemy traits/glyphs/items bonus. I'll try to use many if not all of them as soon as possible to enhance the potions effects. I'll see if it helps a little for the VR difficulty. I definitely know that it's probably not the more efficient build. But I always try weird builds for fun, and I like difficulty ;) As a healer, I also think that it fits my character "theme".

    Not just this, but I can do potions that boost weapon damage, weapon crit and restore stamina for a quick burst of damage. Spell crit/weapon crit combos. Invisibility. Speed. All good things to have in combat.

    Good news (finally): I ran to the guild store and was able to withdraw all the lvl 40 blue food stacks I put on sale 2 days ago. It will help ;)
