Craft Writs

geosto1b16_ESO2
its about time the 7 daily crafting writs are seperated from the quest log of 25 limitations
Quests are a story string.. following a route to a conclusion

Writs is just making stuff from stuff lying around and if you're crafting you will already have the stuff collected as you run around
If you collect by design or accident 25 quests you cants do daily craft writs without 1st deciding which 7 quests you need to get rid of JUST to do DAILYS
Then most of game play time for the day is gone and no time for the daily writs..
its ONLY / writs in a spreadsheet column its not rocket science

True.. Writs are worse but all dailies honestly.. imagine having a separate tab only for daily quests.. I could stock more and even remember that some exist.. I watched a video yesterday that mentioned one and I totaly forgot it was in the game.. and since I can only grab a couple of them I tend to repeat the same ones over and over..

Every single detail of a character needs to be loaded when you're login in with it and the more there are the more server load there is. This will also result in longer loading screens for you. So there are reasons why this limitation exists, it's not like "Oh, let's double the quest log from 25 to 50." and done, there's way more behind the curtain.

And no, the "new servers" argument isn't working here as the power of it is needed for new maps, new game systems and everything else getting added to the game.

I am not talking about master writs.. for 90% of players master writs never get done and are dumped... I also NOT talking about intense mega players addicted who live in line 24/7 ,

I'm suggesting a single log capable of just holding the 7 daily craft writs just like the quest log can only hold 25 quests...it no big deal...

If your 7 dailies are still in the log the following days, then the boards wont show the new dailies anyway, till you clear them...
a lot quicker and easier than getting rid of 7 quests....

Alright, you're getting your 7 separate writ quests. Regular quests are toned down to 18 in the process. Deal?

ok so why wasn't it done like this in the first place.... just arbitary numbers when the game was designed in the beginning, with less processing power less storage ram .. well?

I'm not a programming pro but if that's your logic.. take the other recently posted discussion about crown soul gems as an example.. why do they exist?.. remove them and add a better feature.. that's only a silly example but anyone could make a list of things like that.. how many lines of code does a quest have in comparison to other stuff?

I just allow the room for the 7 daily crafting quests to always be there.

I self police my quests and by now I am just used to it..... afterall the story quests aren't going anywhere, the quest giver will still be there when you do have space for their quest. 🙂

same.. it's not like I'll die if things stay the way they are.. I'm used to it.. but who knows.. if it could be possible.. "why not?"
.. we are here to complain but maybe.. sometimes.. rarely.. give a nice suggestion..

Now that I'm thinking about it.. the Forum Staff probably say "Oh no!.. we have maintenance today.. ppl will come here to complain because they have nothing better to do!"

Care to explain how the db is organized, what is done at login and how much more overhead 50 entrys in the quest log would make instead of 25?

Sure, i'll file you the full ESO code and all the testing results and videos i did on my private ESO server. The tl/dr: There more there is the longer it loads and the more the server has to handle resulting in worse performance when done hundreds of thousands of times per day.

I don't know how login works exactly but I do know if I park any of my characters in a fully decorated house my login is noticably longer...... so I don't do that!

In all honesty, if you're holding on to that many quests you may need to figure out why. Most quests in this game don't take much more than 10 minutes to finish outside of zone story quests.

so the problem is the daily crafting quailifies as completing a daily quest or weekely quest for endeavors. if you seperate them out then crafter won't get credit for endeavors for their daily crafting quests

Another idea to reduce the number of quests in our list: add a way to hide quests. All my characters are filled with quests I don’t want to do, so why I take them? Just to make the NPCs stop harassing me with their quest. I just want a “oh shut up” button 🙉

As much as I hate the quest log limit, I understand why it's there and it's purpose.

I also understand that if they upped it to 30 or even 50 I would still fill it up and have the same issue of a full quest log.

The simple solution is to simply empty your log.

There isn't a quest that you can abandon that you can't just pick up again at a later time when it's more convenient to do it. And yes that includes pledges.

The ones that you can't abandon I do think should be set aside in it's own queue but that is just the OG main quest.

If the complaint is about endeavors well I will say this check them before you do anything in game.

As for ease of completion, ya daily crafting writs are easy. Most dailies are really easy and can only take a few minutes to complete, especially since you can form a group and easy mode them.

I do think that the log could see some improvements, but as it is things are decent enough. Just clear out your quests and make sure you have plenty of space and you won't have issues.

it all depends how the stuff is organized in the db, how many tables/joins are involved for the quest log and how indexes are set.

for example: A simple db query of a table takes not double the time if you select the first 50 elements instead of the first 25 elements, it will take roughly the same time.

I'd tend to agree that quests are following a mission from start to conclusion. "Story" is injecting unnecessary stuff into something which is fundamentally a mechanic. Is 25 too many or too few? Dunno. That's a design decision and well above my paygrade. It's a limitation, though, and kind of like pack space or Bank space are limitations, it's something you just work within. Because of that 25 active mission limitation, I generally don't start stuff that I don't intend to finish off in reasonably short order and I abuse the heck out of the "Continue Zone Story" button.
I'm fresh out of outrage, but I could muster up some amused annoyance if required.

It can be a serious challenge during something like MYM if you keep some of those quests around. Really harms keeping other things, like Mages Guild and Fighters Guild quests around.

This, you do IC quests and either did not finis or want to keep for handing in for daily scripts and tokens.
Later was one of the reasons I did not want to do West Weald at same character as Necron, an mistake
Now its an limit on how many dailies you can do anyway.
Grinding just make you go in circles.

I dealt with this problem ages ago. When I reviewed what other quests I had open, I couldn't remember where they came from or how I got them. I didn't miss the ones that I deleted. They're still there, waiting to be mindlessly accepted.

The obvious solution is to start doing some of the open quests and completing them.
But that won't work for everyone, because... stuff...

Or do the quests in your quest log before the journal fills up and make a point to set aside enough quests for dailies your planning to do on your characters.

Worst case you clear a single quest, then do the daily writs one at a time on that character, or are you going to tell me all of your characters have full to the brim quest logs.
