Quitting on a running battleground match should have high deserter penalty

For me there is NOTHING apart from real life events or involuntary kick from server that justifies deserting a BG match as hard as you try to make it sound as if it was something ok to do.

Rookie or not it will be of little concern to anyone in pvp, every player has the right to leave this game BG for any reason and he will be right, and the game allows you to do this. No one obliges or forces a player to play with a bad team or to be defeated in 3rd place, although not so often you will meet players who care what place your team is in. And what's the point of bringing up "rude"? It would be impolite if a player wrote insults in group chat and then left it, that's what impolite means. you may not like it but it's normal for pvp.

PVP is terrible and frustrating for most of the players. And YES, they don"t want to be humiliated in a game they can't win whatsoever.

Deal with it or change the system.

I agree. Very much. The deserter penalty in BG's should be 24 hours. If a player leaves a 4 man group the remaining 3 have very little chance to win the BG. So the deserter penalty should be significant enough that players don't dessert their group and leave them hanging.

This is bonkers. I am all-in on doing what I can to contribute to my team's victory, or at least second place if stuck on a bad squad. After all, the BG is only 10 minutes long. Typically if I am on an non-DM BG, and its a bad team and the objective is clearly out of reach, its DM time which is fun enough.

But there have been a number of times where quitting is the best option. Such as a player getting the Chaosball and running it to the spawn point for another team. Or messing around with the Relic so you can't score. Or the player in a DM that just suicides without trying. Its rare you encounter these, but why should I stick around for that.

Besides, if you did a 24 hour penalty (or anything about the 15 minutes) I would just go AFK for the rest of the BG to avoid it.

That is 100% bonkers. All of this plus, really, how often is the guy that's leaving helping anyway? All this will do is reduce the fun opportunities for a clutch win when someone late queues in.

I would almost say get rid of the penalty all together. With the state of things, I would get a lot enjoyment watching that same person repeatedly queue into the same match. I admit that my enjoyment in this isn't the practical target here though...

With the current arenas, there are way too many places for players to just hide and afk. I noticed this happened quite a bit this week, because one of the weekly endeavors was to "complete 7 BG's" .

I can't stand most of the arenas. Foyada Quarry is the only one I really like. The others offer too many places to hide and stealth around. Too hard to find players, your team and even flags. Just queing into Eld Angavar is a solid reason to just leave. Mor Khazgur is another one I will just zone out of. ZOS really needs to get rid of all but 3 Arenas. Half the players that come in don't know that maps.

I can relate to just leaving. You get in a team that is mad because they only want DM and they won't play objectives. I'll give it a few tries and just do whatever. The visibility and levels of the other arenas decrease the incentives for players to try and stay together. So if you get in a team that is going all different directions, that's reason to leave. I will say that in almost every game, 1 or 2 players on leave one of the teams.

Put the DM option back in ... PLEASE. Quit trying to make players play the other games if they only want DM. This would cut down on players just leaving.

i also dislike eld angavar and at least one other really large map (the one with the gladiator arena in the center that is almost a mini town, i forget the name of it though)

BGs would be better if they had a better matchmaking system, there is no MMR so a lot of my characters frequently get matched against sweaty people just because i been around a long time

i would have no problem adding in a DM specific queue as long as its completely separate from the random queue, i personally dislike DM but when they mixed the queues like they did last year, it was 99% DM all the time and was impossible to try to get any other type of match to work on achievements

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

feel free to stop by and use the facilities

Completely agree. The BGs population, outside of events, is small enough that you don't run into a lot of quitters or trolls. But when you do, I don't think I should be punished for not wanting to waste my time. The penalty as it is now doesn't really bother me, and I do like when either I get dropped into one and I can help pull it out or someone else drops in on my 3 man nightmare to rescue the team.

With so many hiding places in most arenas, players would just stealth in a corner and afk.

Getting top score in multiple matchups, just to be on the losing team, tends to put a sour taste in a person's mouth. Especially when trying to complete the "win 3 matches" daily.
