Hate mails are the future laughs of the guild Discord salt channel.

PS Streamer rants are also gold. We currently have a good five minutes of conspiracy theory nutting off which is a popular re-read.

I get some pretty unhinged hate tells, but it doesn't bother me. I just screenshot it and share it with friends for laughs.

    Looking forward to MYM!

If you play as a Templar dps in pve, don’t come into pvp expecting to get kills. If anything NB, Sorc, Warden, DK amd Arcanist will eat you as a nice snack. Yum! 😋

Prepare for Grey Host to be pop locked 24/7 for the duration of the event.

With pop caps this low just getting into your main campaign is going to be the biggest fight to be had.

Plus most of the population will be PvEers getting tickets and farming double ink drops.

Also, I just realized my signature hasn't been updated in over 4 years - last time I played (prior to now) was 2020. Mayhaps time to refresh...

I mean, relax. One should stick to their views, by all means, but really, don't discourage people because YOU suck at PvP.

Not trying to discourage folks from trying out or entering PvP. Just warning anyone who does play PvP during this event that hate tells/fan mail are going to be on the rise. Because sadly, there are some PvPers who see any disruption to their little environment - such as an influx of new bloods, some of whom could be the next Emperor but most of whom are just cannon fodder - as an insult of the highest order. And when that happens - out comes the hate tells.

I mean, in Star Wars: The Old Republic, when they introduced Galactic Seasons - and initially "forced" people to get involved in PvP in it's various forms to maximize the rewards they got out of Galactic Seasons - the amount of people who received fan mail, or had a friend or guildie receive fan mail, increased because those who were forced to play PvP dared disrupt the PvPers little corner...even though it consisted of 3-5 matches every so often...and rather than take their anger out on EA/BioWare, they took their anger out on their fellow players via fan mail.

Perhaps I won't change it...perhaps I will. Or perhaps I'll leave that part of the sig and add a second part to it. I haven't decided yet.

You have a VALID point, us who suck at PvP, we can be cannon fodder. Guess what? No one - PvEers - should care.

I remember watching a video, where the important part was said - PvP is about MENTALITY. Foget about a sorc around whom lightning sparks, or a DK engulfed in flames for visuals. The only theme is... survival.

Oh, okay, well that's the [snip] player problem. Shows how immature those players were.

Alrighty then I guess pretty obvious for people who read the posts: no one likes being forced. BioWare FORCED their players into PvP. Here, in WSM, we can give PvP a try. PvP in ESO is not mandatory. Some will suck, other will enjoy it, and other still will simply get some APs and never return to central Tamriel.

But HECK, this point about SW:TOR actually clarifies A LOT. I see your concern.

    Dear fellow PvErs,

if you enter Cyro, be ready to be killed, because you WILL be. Know that open PvP is just in Cyro. Do give it a try, read @arena25 's post and maintain some level of decency. Vitriol ought not to be tolerated.

I'm certainly not looking forward to Grey Host being pop locked nearly every hour of every day. I used to really like the MYM events, but now it's just a struggle to even get into my main campaign to play.

....ZOS so desperately needs to raise the pop caps in Cyrodiil. Pop caps this low are just excruciating to deal with.

Also, amusingly, there's nothing in Cyro for PvErs. If you made pacifist PvE Cyro, you'd kinda have to remove all rewards such as AP, Skyshards, event tickets. There's nothing left except a massive empty map with keeps dotted about.

This is untrue. There's an entire PvE quest string and dailies at each city, plus fishing and Skyshard achieves, as well as delves, and treasure maps (including leads for furnishing items that don't drop elsewhere) in Cyro.

I have to say that, mostly because Cyro is grouped for levels pre + post 50, I don't have too much issue there. Big space. IC, OTOH, because there's a free for all, is a PITA to get the main PvE quest done. There's always some "l2p" type who thinks it's fun to gank some poor level 10 or "usual PvE-er" because, unlike WoW (where there's no honour if you gank lowbies), you still get rewarded for it in ESO's IC.

I suspect that most PvEers who just want to get tickets and farm double ink drops will be choosing a campaign that isn't pop-locked with a long queue. Anyone who just wants to quickly dash into Cyrodiil for tickets and event coffers won't care whether their CP works or not, so the no-CP campaign(s) will be fine for that sort of thing. Players like me, who will be queuing back and forth between IC and Cyrodiil, will want a campaign that has no queue, because when you're in IC and are looking for the fastest way out, you don't want to select a Cyrodiil campaign that will require waiting for a queue to pop. And players farming double-draw drops will want their CP to work so they'll have a chance to get triple- and quadruple-draw drops, but they'll also want a campaign with a short queue, or better yet no queue at all, not to mention one with as few PvPers in it as possible.

If you see players engaged in PvE in a pop-locked campaign that has a long queue to get in, I would guess that they're getting tickets, coffers, and drops like most everyone else, but that they're also wanting to engage in PvP and would prefer to do that in their home campaign. Not all PvPers avoid PvE, and not all PvEers avoid PvP; some players enjoy both.

My guess is that if the queues are longer than usual to get into your home campaign, it's likely because PvPers who haven't been playing ESO as much as they used to are popping in again for the event. I'm expecting to see some of the well-known streamers back again and streaming their PvP action from both IC and Cyrodiil.

During the event, I usually queue for Gray Host, and then play Imperial City while I am waiting. If I were to try and farm ink (I'm not, because I have plenty), I would do so in the main campaign, so that I can watch the map and go to keep captures / defenses as they unfold. I would also do my town quests in the main campaign for the same reason.

That said, you might be surprised by how many people unfamiliar with Cyrodiil will simply click on the first name in the list (Gray Host), and wait patiently to get in and get their tickets... unfamiliar with the dynamics as we veterans are.

I’ve done some farming for the war torte recipe, and while there are some areas of Cyrodiil where there are more nodes closer together, it is not like base zones. The density of nodes in the best places are sparse. I haven’t quite figured out how they respawn either. It seems to take a very long time.

I would say it is not worth the trouble for double node drops. You’d be better off farming in another zone for twice the time.

If you don't feel like getting tells complaining or insulting, just go into offline mode. No more messages.

If a particular person harasses you, just ignore them, then can never contact you again.

MYM is usually pretty fun...if you can get into Cyrodil!

I don't mind getting randomly killed in PvP especially in contested areas. What I hate are the gankers who hide and just nuke those clearly focusing on quests.

I know these events are partially meant to feed that subset, but it is really annoying to not be able to even try because I suck at PvP and an a prime ganking target.

For me the dread is the hours and hours and hours of waiting in queue to get into a campaign that is pop locked at 60-80 players/faction.

MYM events used to be the best events. Now we can't even get into the zone during the events because the pop cap is so unjustifiably low.

Yeah, I would prefer to go into Cyrodiil on my home campaign, which just happens to be the one that usually has the longest queue during this event. :( But I'll just go into one of the other campaigns if I must, because I don't care about my ranking on the leaderboard-- there will be many cold days in Heck before I ever make Emperor!

I believe all the high level Cyrodiil ones were FULL in prime time during the last event. Having to queue during an event is extremely frustrating, especially if you are just trying to jump in for the daily tickets.

Personally as a never-good-at-PvP player, I find a spot to hide in Cyrodiil so I can sneak around and do a daily town quest. Then in Imperial City, I consider losing Tel-Var the price of being there... especially if I've managed to complete the daily and am ready to get back to the base. Then it's like Ubering with Tel-Var. Until that point, I usually have all the dailies up and running so that I eventually get one of them completed.
Been there, got the Molag Bal polymorph.

First, let me be explicitly clear - I am NOT a PvPer.

Pretty much all you or anyone who doesn't like the PVP event needs to say. Which is cool, and it's not meant to be an insult. I've been playing a lot of PVP lately with my guild, but in reality, I probably lean more heavily towards PVE as well.

But there are so many events throughout the year that are for PVE players, so people shouldn't begrudge PVP players for having their own events. If you don't like the event, just don't participate in it - that is typically what I do with literally every event.

The one thing that really annoys me though is when I want to play the PVP event and I can't get into the campaign that I have homed because that campaign is so full of PVE players who usually never step foot in PVP except for the event. IMO, if you routinely home a campaign, you should have priority in that que during the event.

I strongly suggest setting yourselves to "Offline" mode and happily get on with having fun in Cyrodiil. (There is btw more than one reason to set yourself to offline when in Cyrodiil.)
    Cheers!

How do you do that? Or is that a console thing?

I’ve never sent or received hate messages in PvP and I’ve been here since beta. I’ve received them in dungeons from troll 3-person guild groups where I wound up the random 4th but it was years ago and that behavior seems to have disappeared.

That is the responsibility of ZOS, not the PvE players. Put your focus on them and stop just opposing those who bring up flaws in these events. They need to fix things to allow you to have the fun you want.
