Why I'm Not Looking Forward To PvP Event

First, let me be explicitly clear - I am NOT a PvPer. I used to be a good one - when I was a young lad playing CTF battlegrounds in WoW Classic. Now - I'm considered extremely lucky if I get the killing blow on a player in Cyrodiil in a 4v1 - me on the team of 4!

But my lack of skill in PvP is not the reason why I am not looking forward to this event. Rather, it's because there is about to be a huge increase in "fan mail" from people who can't take a death in Cyrodiil with grace.

And for those who think this is a non-issue, over the course of this weekend I had to report 5 (!) separate players (2 Dominion, 3 Covenant) whom decided to send me and my guildies "fan mail" via DMs cos we had the gall to kill them once, maybe twice at a resource we were taking, which they could (and would) probably take back once we moved on. But no, rather than channel their anger into trying harder, they would rather send hate DMs and risk getting warned/suspended.

And this is BEFORE the PvP event. When said event starts - good lord, I fear I'm going to have a hard time telling if I'm in Cyrodiil or in Call of Duty.

Alright, enough rambling from me. Discuss. Or not. Idc. I'll be back later when I can be bothered.
If you can't handle the heat...stay out of the kitchen!

Lmao, I don't care if people send ME a bunch of "fan mail" - I just laugh, report, and move on. That said, most of us came to ESO to get away from COD and WoW's toxicity, not be reminded of it...

Because of my... lack of aptitude in PvP I don't think I will ever be deserving of fan mail.

Said that I'm looking forward to the upcoming zerging all the same.

Mayhem is the only time when I can have some fun in PvP, outside the event for someone of my skill level there is only stonemasonry to do in Cyro.

From my perspective PvP in ESO is akin to only having daily writs or vHM trials in PvE.

Weird, that never happened to me and I played quite a lot of Cyrodiil, even got to Emperor in Gray Host campaign.
I guess you're unlucky in your platform, campaign or build choice. :/

That must be for the people who get killed and shouldn't be so pathetic they write notes after, complaining about it?

If ya don't like dying, don't play a killing game? Heat....kitchen.....gas.....ka-boom.

I strongly suggest setting yourselves to "Offline" mode and happily get on with having fun in Cyrodiil. (There is btw more than one reason to set yourself to offline when in Cyrodiil.)
    Cheers!

Before I start, I would like to make it clear that the following Question / Statement is Serious, not trolling or being flippant or Argumentative!!!

I already feel discriminated on the game, In the majority indirectly!!

As a Mix of Military Service / Work related Accident / BAD Surgeries not to mention just plain OLD AGE and the accumulated Effects, I now have basically one working Arm, and I am 80% Blind. So, typing this out is actually a BIG Effort on an enlarged 43” Monitor. Which will in explaining the situation itself encourage Trolling of me, which will not be acted upon by the mods, or this post will simply be deleted and I will get a warning for Breaching some term or condition, that in all honesty, I don’t Know because I cannot see them to read them!

In NO WAY am I against these events! They have a place in the larger aspects of the game, however for those of us with varying disabilities / Physical & Mental (PTSD), this type of event is Beyond our capabilities and resilience! We cannot compete with the 18 year old who has done nothing but play games, So to send us into Cyrodil to simply die and die and die taking a whole day to try and get a ticket is a little prejudicial. Yes, I understand that us older ones are going to die off and this is your future customer base, but us older ones are in the majority More faithful, willing to stick around through thick and thin, and hold more of than a short attention span with less likeliness to just Change games because it’s Too Hard.

I feel I Have to just Suffer through this, as last event was meant to be the Onyx Indrik , the only one I still need, but that did not transpire, so This is possibly the only chance I have for it! My Wife on the other hand LOVES This event and is looking forward to it! If she could, she would happily give me her tickets, (all be it for a house or costume or something from the Crown Store at as later date!) And YES I know that I can go into the crown store and BUY the tickets therefor getting me the mount without going in, Do you realise just HOW MUCH that is going to impact on a Disability Pension in the UK, and unlike the 18 year old, I still have a House / Utilities / food and Medical Treatments to pay for, which one has to go???

One day, there may be an alternative, but I honestly feel Forcing People, to either do without in real life, or to Mentally and/or physically suffer to actually enable them to gain or achieve something in the game is Prejudicial. Admittedly looking at it from the points of view of lots of people in this situation, and Not from a revenue Generating Business Decision or Outlook.

So, for those that Do Enjoy this event, please have fun! Enjoy it!
But please DO NOT FEEL ACOMPLISHED, when your fully fit & healthy self , all equipped in the PVP Armours and Skill points , manages to Kill a person not in PVP Gear, who cannot move out of your way, or cannot even see you to move out of your way! And if the person Keeps coming to try and get past, they may only want the daily, not the event!!!

I fully expect this post to be deleted, by the MODS, but unless people point these things out, that a few can see, again and again and again, then the Argument is that nothing is going to change, because ZOS know nothing about it!

The fact that I never was a PVP'er , it was always pointless, But the above is the reason I am not looking forward to it.... it is overall the futility of it, As to the Toon Getting killed, "oh dear, my little electrons will have to be regenerated!"

After the Real Military PVP, computer versions really don't cut it!

It’s fine to not want to PVP, but always remember — you don’t have to set foot in Cyrodiil or Imperial City during the event if you really don’t want to. There’s no reason to miss out on tickets. You can complete the easy daily PVE Imperial City quests (six per character) long in advance, keep them in your quest log until the event starts, and then simply turn one quest in each day at the IC base for tickets. If you play on PC NA, I would quite happily help you out with this before the event starts. That offer extends to anyone else as well. I know IC like the back of my hand, and this is the strategy I always use ahead of Mayhem events, because I actually want to use Mayhem for PVP rather than PVE.

Offline mode makes it so that people can't send you whispers. That's it. You're still there, they can see you, you can see them. The salty people that you kill can't send you hate-tells if you're offline.

Nah, I help PVE guildies with it from time to time, doesn’t bother me one bit if someone’s slow or doesn’t know what to do — each quest is done in five minutes or less. No skill is required. Your wife could probably help you out with it too if you prefer. :) It’s very simple and quick to do.

In case you do decide to do the quests with your wife, here’s what you do:

    1. Port to the CP or no CP Imperial City campaign (press L to bring up your PVP campaigns).
    2. Inside your alliance’s main IC base (a safe zone), you’ll find a room filled with ladders heading up to the districts near the banker.
    3. Head up a ladder to grab the repeatable daily (blue quest marker) from a safe area, then head back down to the base through the trapdoor (also in the safe area where no players can tag you).
    4. Repeat the above for each of the six districts.
    5. Once you have all the dailies collected, simply head up one of the ladders again and complete each district quest. Again, the quests are very easy, and take around five minutes or less to complete.

One helpful tip I can give that not everyone knows about is this: once you’ve completed your objectives for one quest, you can crouch to hide, port to your alliance’s base in Cyrodiil, then port back to your main base in Imperial City to head up another district ladder for the next quest. This is safer than running to each district on foot or on mount. Also, you might encounter gankers while doing the quests, but just ignore them and return to what you were doing if you die. They deprive you of Tel Var, but they can’t erase your quest progress.

After the Real Military PVP, computer versions really don't cut it!

You can easily get your event tickets. You just need to be a wee bit cheeky about it.

During MYM there are normally extra campaigns for IC/Cyro.

For Cyro you can enter each campaign and see which one your faction is winning (or log in an alt of the winning faction if you have one). You can then just pick the scouting mission and 9 times out of 10 it will be in a keep or resource that your faction already owns. If it's not, then just abandon that quest and pick up another scouting quest to give you a different scouting location. You then just port to the keep, head out to the resource you need to scout, crouch as you get close, do the scout report, then queue for and join any IP campaign to get out of Cyro quickly. Once in IP you can just rejoin any Cyro campaign and hand in your quest for the two tickets. Otherwise just do a quest in Bruma or Cropsford etc.

For IC, just log on an EP character, go to Arena and do the daily there from the platform. You can snipe the NPC's holding the prisoners captive with your bow or heavy attack them with your destro staff or just crouch there and wait for other players to do it for you. You can even go afk in the safe blue zone and you will automatically get the quest done as others rescue the citizens closest to you. Then just head back down to base camp and hand in the quest on the way out of IC.

There are 39 tickets to collect for this event. It's a shame that you feel you have to miss out on them.

OH did I mention that I HATE PVP but I always get my event tickets with minimal effort and I rarely get ganked.

Very odd to me. I play in Cyrodiil very often and never had anyone sending me a hatemail or something. (Ravenhost EU)

But the ESO Support is really harsh with their ban hammer, so if they insult you, just report them.

I had 3 days ban for saying "speak english, we cant understand you" to a russian spam insulting me in his language after a dungeon.

Possibly a FALLOUT 76 "Pacifist Mode" would be the answer to all of this, you could go in, and not get involved 2 birds one stone!

There's a difference. There's nothing to be gained in FO76 PvP. There's a lot to be gained from ESO PvP. Also, amusingly, there's nothing in Cyro for PvErs. If you made pacifist PvE Cyro, you'd kinda have to remove all rewards such as AP, Skyshards, event tickets. There's nothing left except a massive empty map with keeps dotted about.

For me the dread is the hours and hours and hours of waiting in queue to get into a campaign that is pop locked at 60-80 players/faction.

MYM events used to be the best events. Now we can't even get into the zone during the events because the pop cap is so unjustifiably low.

That must be for the people who get killed and shouldn't be so pathetic they write notes after, complaining about it?

If ya don't like dying, don't play a killing game? Heat....kitchen.....gas.....ka-boom.

If by notes you mean the people sending hate tells/fan mail, then yes.

Also, I just realized my signature hasn't been updated in over 4 years - last time I played (prior to now) was 2020. Mayhaps time to refresh...

    [snip]

I play PvE mainly, BUT guess what - I have guildies with whom I can go there and kill / die on the battle field.

To others who are hesitant - do give it a go! Maybe you will like it, as you have not tried.

I mean, relax. One should stick to their views, by all means, but really, don't discourage people becasue YOU suck at PvP.

Mind you... I do too. Does being lame at PvP prevent anyone from joining a ballgroup and farming others? No.

As such, it is not a reason to say "don't go into PvP, you'll be farmed!". Yes, this is POSSIBLE. Or you can take a rake, put on a straw hat, overalls and farm others.

If anything, we need more encouragement to play PvP, not the opposite.
[EDIT] your signature IS by all means valid and true. Perhaps... don't change it?

Technically there are quests and delves which are PvE content. However they are spread wide apart such that it takes as much time, sometimes longer, to get the quest location as it does to complete them.

To me, one of the most ironic behaviours in the game is when a player goes looking for 1vX and then complains constantly when they get it.

I don't PvP very often as I don't really care for it, but I absolutely LOVE getting hate whispers! They're hilarious, make my day and I can only assume I'm doing something right!

On those rare occasions that I do PvP, I'm always a bit disappointed if I don't get one. If players are so upset about getting killed to the point they have to take the time to type out some insults, then the problem is theirs. They get bent about dying in normal gameplay - that they chose to do - and I get a giggle out of it. I've even sometimes screenshotted the chat to show friends, and we all get a giggle!
RIP Atherton, my beautiful little gentle friend. I will miss you forever. Without you I am a hollow shell.

I can't even remember the last time I got a "hate tell," and I usually finish the Kill 150 Players quest every single day. Then again, I don't send them myself, teabag people, or otherwise do things to provoke other players.

if I wanted to do pve I would play single player RPG like baldurs gate, if I wanted to do housing I would play sims, if I wanted to raid I would play WoW.

But where else you get gameplay with massive zergs vs zergs, castle sieges and lots of freedom to customize your character and use different viable builds (in pvp)? Lineage2 was only on weekends castle siege, dark age of camelot is outdated, WoW (retail) is more about arenas and battlegrounds there are no open world pvp there.

Yeah, I would prefer to go into Cyrodiil on my home campaign, which just happens to be the one that usually has the longest queue during this event. :( But I'll just go into one of the other campaigns if I must, because I don't care about my ranking on the leaderboard-- there will be many cold days in Heck before I ever make Emperor!
I've fought mudcrabs more fearsome than me!
