Timer Changes - Thanks

I just played a ToT game against a guy who stalled his entire first turn. Upon his second turn, I noticed his timer flip right away, so he only had that little bit of warning time to play, which he once again just stalled on. Then on either his third or fourth turn of stalling, he was auto-resigned.

Thank you, ZOS. Appreciate it.

as far as im aware i dont think they changed turn times to auto resign you if you let it time out 5 times

more than likely the other player was booted for inactivity

if they waited 90 sec on turn one, instantly hit the timer on turn 2 and then waited 90 sec on turn 3 and 4, he might have been employing a strategy to try to hope the opponent resigns, and because you didnt, he resigned himself because he was going to be in a losing position from that point if he wasnt playing much or anything

but yeah as far as im aware theres no auto-resign unless the opponent was kicked for inactivity or disconnected
    plays PC/NA

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

feel free to stop by and use the facilities

No, if a player doesn't make a move on their turn, then their next turn is of shortened length. If they don't do anything again, then their next turn is of shortened length again. After that, the game will boot a inactive player and reward a win to the opponent.

wasnt aware they reduced the turn timer if you let it time out without making a move, but also not surprised since i dont typically play against humans, the NPC games have no turn timer to begin with lol

do you recall when they added that feature?

I don't, but I don't believe that it was always part of the game. That said, I don't think that there is a patch not that talks about it.

I didn't even realize they had done this! That's awesome! Was this added with Gold Road?

    Before then for sure.

Really? It's been way longer than I realized since I had an opponent just stall things out then. Cool.

I do not remember when it was added, but I would say before Necrom (do not quote me on that though). I've seen the shortened timer for those that do not make a move for a long time now. The problem is since that change the stallers do make a move and then wait for the time to run out. So, they are unaffected by this change.

I wouldn't say they're unaffected - they at least have to pay attention to their stalling now instead of just going off and reading the newspaper.

Do not get me wrong, it was a great change. But still the stalling behavior exists (even though it's not that common now).

Yeah. Come to think of it. Most stallers do so after making moves anyway.
