Insane lag on EU server today? Abilities not working correctly? FPS drops

EU server has been acting REALLY strange today. Combat has always been clunky and laggy in ESO, but today there has been LOTS of lag, and abilities are not working as they should.

There is a post on reddit about the same issue, and many players are experiencing weird behaviour like FPS drops, abilities not working, long lag spikes and so on.

The servers just cant hold up or something? Is this seriously what we pay for?

That said i even hear the sound of a skill way later and exactly from where i did it after i moved.
Like i shoot a light/heavy attack from Firestaff. i move away. 2 seconds later i see the fire projectile starting to go from the location i shot it. that is also the source of the sound. Feels so weird and awkward.

Been playing almost 10 hours today, no problems whatsoever, been smooth as usual.

I've played for about 5 hours today without issue. But a few nights ago it was really problematic for me.

Best thing to do in a fight is focus on making key blocks and interrupts early.

When the lag hits, stay in blocked position for 5 seconds, rope-a-dope, until the battle reverts back to real-time.

Then, if you aren't laying flat on your back, quickly take a potion and attempt to make a miraculous comeback.

Never played a game like this in my entire life.

But that's how you play ESO.

My fps dropped from usual 100 to 20-30, around 11 am bst.
It returned to normal, more or less around noon.
