No group exp - intentional?

Hi there.

My girlfriend and I are enjoying the game. However, when we play as a group of two or more, we don't get any experience points from monsters slain. Is this intentional? If so, why? I thought this was an MMO where you're encouraged to travel in groups and play together?

At this rate, we might as well play solo and then stand beside each other and kill monsters for exp - that's hardly a practical solution at all.

You do get xp in a group, infact the diminished xp doesnt start until you get 3 players or more. So you should get the exact amount in a group of 2 that you do solo. Unless of course other players are hitting the same monster you are, then the xp is dimished.

Also, that diminished xp would take effect if you were not grouped and fighting the same mobs as well.

But you only get 0 xp if you are over 5 levels higher than the things you are killing. Also keep in mind some monsters are worth much less xp in general, such as "swarming zombies".

I understand what you're saying (and thanks for commenting, by the way), but it appears that my girlfriend and I get 0 exp from killing ordinary monsters around the same level as us, which is odd. Maybe it's an add-on showing the XP you get that's bugged?

It could very well be, the first addon I used frequently showed false numbers, including negative numbers. Did you try looking at your actual xp bar without relying on addons to verify you are getting no xp?

Well no, because it's not showing any numbers without an add-on, is it? So it's difficult to see whether it's moving or not when killing mobs.

    1. Enter the character screen by pressing C
    2. Mouse over the xp bar in the upper left corner and it shows you for example 399/5400 exp
    3. Use paper or notepad to store the current xp value
    4. Kill a mob
    5. Enter the character screen by pressing C again
    6. Mouse over the xp bar in the upper left corner and compare it to the value in paper, notepad
