Greetings fellow ESO adventurers!

Thought I would share some of my experiences around how I have experienced ESO from a new player perspective, as well as some of the challenges I've come across, with a few suggestions for the Zenimax developers out there.

I hope that they are listening!

First off, I've been anticipating Elder Scrolls Online since before it even started!

I've been an avid player of Oblivion and Skyrim so naturally I was very enthusiastic about ESO.

    Setting:

You folks captured the feeling and environmental's perfectly. One of the things I love about ES is the multitude of voice acting one finds. It just sets the stage perfectly.

Honestly I can't say I'm not impressed with all of it. The only thing that I could mention about the world, is that when one is out adventuring, the NPC creatures do not appear to be sacred-off? In Oblivion and Skyrim hunting down deer was an art. It was actually fun sneaking around with poisoned arrows killed the unsuspecting deer or bear!

Perhaps it just me, but Skyrim and Oblivion just seemed a scarier place to be running around in.

I liked picking ingredients for potions and in ESO there seems to be far less available compared to the other games.

    Chat:

Great usability and I like the fact that its to unobtrusive and easy to use, together with a helpful help system.

What is dismaying is the fact that there are so many Gold Farmers spamming the zone chat all the time.

I was thinking that perhaps a way to solve this problem would be having the main zone channel administered with GMs.

If you want to join the channel you have to request permission from the GMs.

The GMs then at anytime can see whether the account is legitimately being used for gaming and if not, they simply mute the account.

Other games do this very successfully.

    Story-line progression and completion

I believe (not sure) that if you have completed a quest that quest is no longer available to you.

I don't think that this is not a very good approach to take in a living world.

One sometimes likes to go back, and replay old missions. Perhaps one missed something the first time round, or things were just a little bit too crazy!

In other games, one has a library of completed missions, which one can then pick-up again with somewhat reduced rewards.

I think that BOTing at the moment is pretty insane.

(Note: Just ban the accounts associated with Bots. Let them pay!)

Why not implement a system such as follows.

Killing the Boss should not drop the loot.

The loot should be given at the end of the quest, and the quest designed in such a way that the only way to get the reward is to play the damn quest! Not kill the boss.

So you play quest "Go kill that troll over there", and the mission giver tells you that if you are successful, then they will reward you item X + 10 gold

Off you run hacking and slashing everything in sight and when the fight is all over you get a mighty reward, while the BOT stands there wondering what just happened. LOL!

Most games use a "participation duration" associated to rewards for this very reason.

The next time that you grab the mission at a higher level the NPCS and rewards are scaled to your level. I know you can do it, because you do it so well in other games!

I honestly think that in addition to items the quests need to give out some gold.

1-2 pieces of gold is really disheartening. But, if you fighting a dragon for x1000 gold, by the Nine Divines, you will chew at the dragons tail if you must to aid you in your glorious endeavor!

    Crafting and Spells

The approach you have taken in Crafting and Spells is new, innovative and I kind of like it, but its really just a start right!

What happened to all the amazing schools of training found in all the other games?!

I have faith that as the game develops so too will these schools.

Love the FX of the abilities. Just epic.

    Leveling

Too fast. Really, why are MMO's so very interested in the final destination.

I want to take it slow and experience the world. It seems the moment I move a muscle I am awarded with a level.

I get that there are folks that want to get to the endgame (why, I do not know), but let them have other means of getting there. Perhaps players can step into a shrine for that quick fix.

I'm happy to coast along at a snails pace :)

I don't reconcile how when I raise a level, abilities and perks magically just increase.

I enjoy working on building my characters. Its most of the fun, knowing that my archer became an archer because he practiced!

    Item Decay

I'm fearful to hit anyone in case my puny sword shatters

And when I do, its light little "swishes" so as not to dent the blade.

Now for a warring Dragon-knight, this feeling is emasculating to say the very least!

Could we somehow head over to the Armoury, and I don't know - smith our gear into shape? (It helps if you picture me as Dr. Evil at this point)

I mean if I'm hacking-and-slashing Draedra in my new shinies, which I crafted I might add, then surely I have the fortitude to hammer them back into shape?!

    Horses

40000 for a horse. Is that the King's horse?!

I'll settle for any pony, even one thats cockeyed and carries scurvy.

And I'll paid top 1000 coin for the feisty stead!

I beg you ... don't take away my manhood and make me charge into PvP ... on foot ... midst 4000 Roheryn.... I beg yea!

    Or better yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Letma summon an ethereal chariot as a spell!! That will show those horsemen a thing or two!

    Teaming

Sorry folks huge fault with this system... is that one cannot play with friends in the same instance.

I was about to open a can-of-whip-arse on the heathens, when on shouting "Whose with me lads!!!!:, suddenly all around me I was met with the ominous flutter of bat's wings, ... and the occasional nocturnal owl "Chuw Cho!".

Hero-to-zero, amid a fiery casting of spam keys, and the sound of "I'mmm dyinngggg!" and the Boss needing to sit down from laughter.... (Major unhappy face)

One literally gets stuck if you are faced with too great an enemy which a team could have accomplished.

I have faith in your ability to resolve this soon, and restore my manhood!

    Bank

The bank. I thought to was the brothel it seems so crowded

Really breaks immersion when you have like a gazillion people around one NPC.

Step back... coming through... sorry about that... excuse me!

Perhaps we could have a few extra tables with, say some more clerks? (there's that Dr. Evil again)

I swear that bank clerk is displaying early symptoms of PTSD. Twitching up a storm.

    Power tray of Doom

    Where is it?!

Five hotkeys + 1 hero ability. I'm sorry I must protest.

    I need more.

I'm already only level 6! Yeah laugh you buggers!!

And I don't know where to put my epic quest skills to slay a dragonborn.

    Overburdened

Never thought I would say this.... but please can I have it back.

In Skyrim I would risk walking (albeit slowly) overburdened across a snow-covered mountain in the midst of a blizzard with "Realistic Needs and Disease" and "Frostbite" Mods active for my precious loot, with a Ice Troll roaring at my tail, and a dragon circling overhead!

Just don't take away my loot .... I was sooooo close!! Must have! Must Have!

    Sneaking

Whats the intention about sneaking because I just don't feel the powah!

In Skyrim I was feared among giants with me bow!

In ESO I can nearly walk right-up to a NPC and tap them on their shoulder with a Howdy-doodee and still they don't see me. In ESO, the hide-and-sneak is what made it for me! I need the RUSE!

(Except those premature shots... where the arrow falls limply in-front of me, and I'm like "Oh dear Akatosh, just kill me now."

Traps, Puzzles and your general Dungeons mayhem!

Not sure about you, but I think a few carefully place deadly traps and swingy-blade machines would make muppets think twice before charging into dungeons!!. And whatever happened to the coffins that would spew Draugr, quite unexpectedly while you were taking in the ambiance of the quaint dungeon scenery?!

Really breaks the immersion when someone comes bunny hopping past my sneak....

But, really sometimes I just feel let down because I get to a dungeon and its like a mall in there! Where'd they all go?!

Alright guess I'll just read this tome over here ... AND then "all of a sudden" two bossman spawn beside me and as I'm whimpering watching my heath bar get drained, I'm puzzled as to where the hawty crowd has disappeared to, or was that just a flash mob?!

Glowing sheets of paper and Lore Books.

As much as I enjoy a good read now and then, am I suppose to do something? Sometimes as I'm reading about some far off adventure, I'm pondering is this just as artistic expression, or a deadly web of intrigue I simple know nothing about.

The Mage's Guild told me I must go forth and find tomes, but every time I find them I'm perplexed.

On that note, please reconsider granting perks for reading a book, or at the very least reduce the rate of skills granted.

Thats it really. Smashing game. See you on the battlefield, and all that.
