    We keep losing quality of life systems to improve the servers, but the servers never improve.

    I don't agree with this change unless they reduce the fee for posting items in guild stores.

    Absolutely insane.

    No one asked for, or wanted this.

    It disproportionately punishes people who deal in high-value, low-volume items.

    It will absolutely not help performance because people will just relist the items, and in fact might actually make things worse because of the increased churn and generation of expiration mails.

    Also, it's wild that they just experienced a bug that locked out players for 11 days and they came back with "yeah, plan better" with regard to mail expiration. An absolutely wild and, frankly, kind of insulting response @ZOS_Kevin

    While last year the game did a lot of great things for quality of life, this year they go about destroying all the progress they made and made it worse that when they started out.

    This combined with the mail system changes seem a terrible idea. People need to pay way more to put up more special items in guild stores if they expire so quickly.

    I also don't see how this will improve server performance. If items expire twice as fast, there need to be twice the amount of in game mail send out of expired items and people will login more to repost said items on on their guild stores leading to much more mail and server traffic than to just let items hang there....

    I wonder why they mention 'server performance' again. Never had any performance issues, not even when 150 people where doing a a geyser with their pet, companion and combat pet. Is scribing that heavy? Or is this all for this Q4 PVP thing we have to pay dearly for with gigantic quality of life regressions?

    Also why make feedback threads about these items if you are only going to say 'thanks for the feedback, we will ignore it'. I really hope these decisions have major pushback from the more casual player base as well. This seems more something the 'player engagement and monetization' department came up with.

    If you haven't had server performance issues then you are lucky. Sometimes even 12 man trials instances are nearly unplayable (especially lately, the game has felt incredibly unresponsive in trials and player homes).

    I guess this means that those who criticise the guild trader system can now include its strain on the servers as part of their argument to switch to a different system, and perhaps even those who support the present system won't be so keen on it if and when these changes go Live.

    When ZOS attempted to explain the switch to AWA by referring to the pressures on the database compromising plans for future additional content, I wondered what would be the next server performance based move to impose a controversial change on a large section of the playerbase, and I guess this is the answer (along with the accompanying mail changes of course)!

    This is an APPALLINGLY bad idea.

    Using the trading guild system on console is already incredibly time consuming.
    I spend literally hours every week keeping 3 guild trader memberships full: 1 capital, 1 secondary (Vivec right now, sometimes Grahtwood), and 1 third tier. Most of what I sell is motifs, furniture blueprints, and overland gear. It usually takes a week or 3 to sell, because those aren't high-volume items like potions, materials, or food. My Clockwork Reliquary runebox sold after 45 days. Timbercrow usually takes 2-3 months. And those items are at competitive (albeit very expensive) prices.

    If I have to relist things twice as often, I simply WON'T.

    PLEASE DON'T MAKE THIS CHANGE.

    How does this reduce strain on the database if people are just going to put the same items up for sale twice as often? I’m fine with the mail changes but this? No. Items that cost hundreds of thousands or millions of gold don’t often sell fast but the tax for even putting them up for sale is pretty high. With this change, putting some items up for sale could maybe result in losing money.

    my guess is its a storage thing, like the physical storage size of the DB is probably enormous as is

    making the listings expire sooner means less 30 day poorly priced sales just taking up space in the DB

    for the OP there is nothing in there that says it will improve overall game performance, it says it helps reduce the strain on their DB, which being a DB the biggest problem is the quantity of data in the DB and size of HD to store everything

    im assuming this is the same reasoning with making system mails expire quicker, and adding the QoL to make it easier to claim items from mail and delete all mail with no attachments (less mail sitting around again = smaller DB storage size)

    I don’t agree with the idea of this improving server performance (it won’t, nothing they did in that regard ever has worked), but this is actually a good change. Those listings for 30 days basically never sell and ZOS has data to back it up (which is basically the same as my experience with it).

    It does, but only for reading, the db will have to index through less data if it disappears quicker. The amount of stuff doesn't matter much for writing.
    I worked on big databases before (>1TB of just pure text and numbers) and I doubt this change would have any visible effect, but that is dependent on the structure and cross-reference between other tables and/or databases in the system. It could free some memory on the backend machines though.

    This is undoubtedly the most accurate description.

    It gets really old to see 'performance' used and hope it's synonomous with 'improvement' while knowing it means anything but. :(

    Maybe zos have some internal metric for performance in which maintaining the (very poor) status quo seems to be the only objective. That or 'how many more accounts can we cram into overloaded extant systems without spending on more/better infrastructure'.

    I have very poor judgement about most development generaly. Not just games, and in games ussually the bigger the company the worse it is.

    And Eso beeing one of the best MMO games out there regretably does not make it much less so.

    Do really the players need to point Your well paid developers to the solutions, or at minimum inform them that the changes are not for the better and most likely will even worsen everything. Unless of course the target was simply something completely different, like helping the ingame economy a bit and dropping overall prices on items down. |With a high risk that the trading system just stops working and ppl start using some third party software and simply trade via ingame mailing system? btw if that happens it will deffinitely help Your servers a lot....

    But i am not here to *** about "no brains" solutions in big companies, ussually making things only to have points for doing things being it bad or good does not matter much.

    I am here to give you tiny glimpse to my insane brain and suggest a solution that might help and tell you a SECRET
    the players selling in the guild trades mainly care about own sales not the whole guild. Well a lot of them use MasterMerchant addon so they would love to have those information too, but it is not that required and there might be other ways too. Not to mention that TTC seems to do the job just as well...

    While You might have problems with mails "over the cap" being on top of mailbox size, hey if you do not empty mailbox in front of your house, you will have a mess soner or later. So you could just deliver the most overdue stuff instantly to the first character with available space if that happens...

    p.s. as suggested above the only thing you actually manage now is more traffic on renewing the sales. Actually if you did infinite time on guild store it would actually reduce some traffic and traders would probably remove non selling items themselves... But that would harm the ingame economy right :smirk: since this is, probably not completely neglible, gold drain from it.

    100% this!! Not only did no one want this, or the reduced mail holding times, but with this happening, cutting the times in half, the listing fees need to be cut in half as well. The final value sale fee % can remain, but the listing fee needs to be cut by 50%, and not in the next patch, like now. This is especially prevalent for big ticket items that already took weeks to months to sell, and not because they were overpriced, but because they are rare and expensive. Having to pay that same listing fee for half the time will only require one to list it for more to make up for the additional upfront costs…

    Or drop in price of everything (to a point none would drop any more) to ensure quick sales... For the extremely rare and expensive stuff You are probably right tho
