After the u43 reveal, what do you want to ACTUALLY see for u44/Q4?

Actually I think there's a risk that it won't even be that. They called the housing thing, which is basically a search function in a menu, a "feature". They call the upcoming PvP thing a "feature". I wouldn't even be surprised anymore if it's also just a search/matching function or setting, no new playable game content at all.

Maybe, I mean who knows right? Besides ZOS that is… I am not expecting much truly. It could be anything from something Guild V Guild related, some new map with some artifacts that spawn similar to Volendrung, could be a search changes, could be new maps or map, could be a new duel arena. IA is pretty big but we just simply don’t know since ZOS keeps things mysterious until it’s time to reveal.

The only thing we know for sure is that Cyrodiil is not involved.

I'd like to see an increase in player caps and better performance in Cyrodiil. What we'll probably get is new PVP related weapon skins and clothing in the Crown Store.

What I would like: Veteran pvp map. Somewhere only open once your account has unlocked a certain rank, with new titles, rewards, NPCs, and goals. Basically, I would like somewhere new for some of the pvp veterans to go and earn AP and finds some good fights.

What I am expecting: some new BG maps. Maybe a new artifact-- we were always told Voldenrung was supposed to just be the first. I've seen some speculation about a dual finder, which I think would be a reasonable expectation, considering we have a group finder and now a house finder lol.

I'm not expecting anything grand for Update 44, especially as they titled it as a "PVP Feature" rather than a PVP mode or update. What I want on the other hand is a shake-up in the Alliance War/Cyrodiil narrative, especially in this anniversary era. I'm tired of the status quo. It's been ten Akatosh-forsaken years.

As for the two companions, I'm once again not expecting much. Instead of getting them with the Chapter, for one reason or another they decided to time-gate them to Q4. What I want though is more companion features and maybe, I don't know, a well-established character as a companion?

Let me be more specific. It is indeed normal practice to reuse assets and nothing much can be deduced from that per se.
It is a different matter altogether when we start seeing supposedly substantial updates where it is clear the reusing of assets has eliminated whole development departments from the process. The housing update fits the bill. A duel-finder would also fit the bill. This could mark a shift from "we want to build X, what do we need?" to "if we only have a few coders, what can we still do?"

P.S. Of course I don't know if this reflects the reality at ZOS. The housing feature could be a one-off. Perhaps they have all the other departments working on the Q4 update and beyond. But what I'm saying is not beyond the realms of possibility: that this is a way to cut developer resources. I've worked on a project myself where this happened and we could still go on for a while, but within much more limiting constraints.

Hard to know the plans for the future really but the change they made to the yearly format last year at least to me was needed. The game had a lot of bugs piling up and even ZOS said they had a big backlog so I think when everything is caught up Q3 and Q4 DLC’s could go back to some meatier content.

Hope you're right . But if they figure out they don't lose money with this new formula (less contents, less investments, same revenues) they will NEVER going back.

I make sure to not have my hopes up after this latest one, but if this upcoming "PvP feature" only revolves around eliminating ballgroup gameplay, hell that would definitely make up for the u43 flop.

Over the years I don't think I've seen a single suggestion to get rid of ball groups that wouldn't also cripple ALL organized group play

One theory here in the forums was that Gold Road was originally produced as a Q4 dlc, not a full chapter, so it did not include any companions. I don't think that's impossible. Or maybe they want to accustom us to reducing chapter content by shoving what were originally chapter-included features into other parts of the year.

I'm really wondering whether they'll stop introducing new ones once there's one for every class, or one of each race. They have mentioned before that they want to continue older companions' stories, and somehow I can't imagine them doing both - writing new characters and writing continuations of the others' questlines - anymore. It would be an extra of work, after all, and where ZOS had been going the last few years was the opposite direction.

I'm not going to pretend I know what exactly could fix the current disease which are ballgroups but just like there are buffs specifically for PvP such as Battle Spirit and buffs which diminish certain procs the more people you have in your group, there could also be debuffs that discourages that form of gameplay in a similar manner.

I can probably speak for many when I say that I do not mind or discourage any form of group gameplay (smallscale), but ballgroups are specifically known for hogging up the server juice, cause fps drops, lag and discourage a major slice of ESO's declining PvP population from partaking when they're around.

Q4 is earmarked for a pvp "feature" and two companions. I don't mess with either so Q4 for me will be doing my normal-type gameplay.

I have somehow, despite all logic, become convinced that update 44 will come with companion romance, and I will be completely crushed when that inevitably does not come to pass.

Not to disappoint you, but I think that's unlikely. They did not announce an update to the companion system, only that there will be 2 new companions (what would originally have been part of the chapter).
